I had high hopes for this place as the menu for food and drinks looked outstanding but, poor execution and terribly slow service made for a disappointing meal.
We sat at the bar and it took over 20 minutes for the bartender to even notice us. She was so aloof. She didn’t look around, didn’t make eye contact and was super slow. Maybe she was new- I’m not sure, but the lady next to me couldn’t even get her check for over 15 minutes despite flashing her Credit card in the air.
The bartender also didn’t course our food when she rang it in, once she finally come over to take our food order….so we waited forever for 2 soups to come out, only to be joined by our entrees at the same time. I asked them to take the entrees back till we were finished with our soups (the food runner said it was rung in all together when it shouldn’t have been). The tortilla soup was basically tomato purée soup. Not a true tortilla soup. It was very strange. However the bean soup was excellent so I’d recommend this over the tortilla soup until they can get a proper recipe.
The carnitas were fairly tasty despite being cold and a little dry. The homemade habanero salsa helped a lot.
Our last round of drinks my husband asked for the Dos Olas Margarita and I asked for the Classico but the bartender made them both Los Olas- I’m not a fan of grand mariner so I didn’t like the las olas but couldn’t get the bartenders attention to even address the issue.
There were so many dirty plates and glasses all over the bar it was a disaster. And we watched 2 bar back employees peer over their phones and have lengthy Spanish conversations instead of addressing the dirty glassware and plates. This place needs a manager desperately to oversee the employees and lack of care, and they need bartenders who know how to run a bar, smile, greet guests and ring in...
Read moreThis was a disaster from start to finish. We made a reservation and spoke to them when we arrived but the four yes four hostesses all but ignored us. We finally had to say something again and then they acted like they had not greeted us 10 minutes prior and said oh your table is right this way. Food was brought out one plate at a time so we couldn’t all eat together. Kids chicken fingers were disgusting at best not even chicken breast but mushy chicken and tasteless corn on the cob all for $15 bucks…chicken enchiladas tasted like canned chicken and salty sauce from a can, fish tacos was nothing special tasteless and bland just some good old Sysco frozen fish. The mole with cauliflower was ridiculous probably costs them less than 2 bucks to make and was over $30 dollars presentation was bizarre at best and super disappointing, asada tacos again bland and for the price disappointing, $22 dollar margaritas which had very little taste except for the jalapeños I had them throw in all in all a terrible experience (waitress was excellent and we tipped far over 20% because we felt so bad for her to have to serve this food) as a 30 + year local this restaurant will learn a valuable lesson when there are no tourists in town who have no idea and the locals will not dine here. I had high expectations even though several other friends had said it was not worth the visit we really wanted it to be great but save the trip and...
Read moreWhile we understand that we were lucky to get a table during a busy holiday weekend without a reservation, that’s pretty much where my praise for this restaurant ends. For starters, we ordered the grande guacamole. The only thing grande was the bowl, which made the small serving of guacamole look even smaller. We scooped into the guacamole only to find that it was actually only partly mashed with big chunk of whole avocado on the bottom. No problem, we mashed it ourselves. It was bland and definitely had no salt or seasoning of any kind. We mentioned this to our server who returned to tell us they had run out of guacamole so they had quickly made this for us and apologized. With the exception of the conchinita tacos, the food was pretty bland as well. The tacos were supposed to come with yellow rice and refried black beans. Not only were the rice and beans bland and flavorless, the beans were not refried, they were undercooked whole beans. The food did come out pretty quickly but being about 30 minutes before closing when we received the food it seemed we were being rushed. At 8:49pm they turned all of the lights up in the restaurant..our clue that it was time to finish. We asked for a to go box for the chicken quesadilla and our server brought us a small box which clearly was too small for the large pieces, letting us know they were out of big boxes. Overall we were very disappointed in our food...
