My wife and I have 6 kids and we don’t get away very often or much alone time either. This was the first trip we had taken in over 8/9 months and this was to celebrate our upcoming anniversary. We only booked two nights because the price was up there and out of our budget but I wanted to stay somewhere that seemed nice, clean and reputable. However the two nights that we booked and paid for really only turned into one night. When we got there and checked in that was ok. But when we got to our room we noticed a queen size mattress half way blocking our room door and the room next to us in the adjoining entry way. We moved it over so we could get into our room. The room was clean and a decent size. My wife and I were really excited. However we did tell the front desk about the mattress and asked them to look into and they just brushed it off. Didn’t even really confirm what I said and stated it might be there for a reason. Upon heading back to our room when we walked in the adjoining entry way we were over powered by the smell of smoking. It was really bad and then when we went into our room our whole room smelled of smoke. Because it was coming through the adjoins room door. We immediately called the hotel from our cell since none of the rooms have phones anymore which was a whole other issue. The guy who answered was nice and helpful but not at the hotel. He was at a hotel down the street. But was managing both hotels and issues. He helped us to try and find another room. However he was limited with what he could do because our booking only paid for a certain room. We only had 3 rooms to choose from. He told us to go check out the location of the one room and in the meantime put a wet towel at the bottom of both doors to limit the amount of smoke as we didn’t want our clothes and luggage smelling for the remainder of the trip. So we checked out the other room location and told him we were fine with moving even though we didn’t see the room. He said he would come to the hotel and help us switch rooms. We re-packed all our luggage and got ready. But then got a call and the employee said that room wasn’t available because it was under construction. So we picked one of the other two rooms. However when we got in there the room was really small and half the size of what we paid for. So we called the hotel desk worker again who was already over at the other hotel and asked to see the other room as we paid for a larger room and didn’t want to downsize because of a guest that was allowed to smoke. The other room was still smaller but not as small as the prior room. By the time this was done it was almost 10pm. We spent our first night and almost 6 hours just trying to get a room so the entire relaxing evening was gone and ruined. The employee was helpful and even felt bad about our struggles but the issue should have never happened especially at a hotel that is supposed to be no smoking let alone drugs. The smell was definitely cigarettes and marijuana and we shouldn’t have to deal with that. They should have had security taken care of that issue right away. So now we only have 24 hours left of what was supposed to be a 38 hour trip. When we pulled back the covers on the bed in the 3rd room we also found 2 bugs on the pillow and under the sheet which we took a picture of but when we tried to call the hotel, we couldn’t get anyone to answer so we took the sheets off and shook them outside to make sure no other bugs were there. Our plan on the next day was to rest, relax and catch up on sleep. We ate breakfast and decided to go back to bed. However the connecting room which was vacant when we ended up in that room had 2-5 ladies that came in to start cleaning and were screaming, banging dishes and super loud for 4 hours straight. No sleep and the front desk never even followed up for them to stop or quiet down. We weren’t the only ones that complained. We actually thought they were guests and found out the next day they were hotel cleaners. So unprofessional and no one there cares at all especially for the...
Read moreYes, the Silverado Lodge is still undergoing renovations, they are close to being completed and it should not impact your stay. Many of the reviews I read on Silverado seem to have started with lofty expectations, this is not the Ritz, Waldorf, or Pendry not sure why people expect that? It is close to the Canyons base village lifts, we walked every day even though it was zero degrees and they have shuttles that will drive you up for free. Some will not consider this ski in/out because you don’t literally walk out the door to the lifts, but this is pretty close. Tip, if you walk take the stairs on the other side of the West Gate it is super quick you will arrive in the heart of the Canyons Village between the DBB restaurant and the Cabriolet. The Silverado is clean and comfortable, the lobby is no frills, but the under ground parking for one vehicle is clutch. My limited interactions with the staff was all positive, but I didn’t ask much of them… The pool and hot tub were not terribly busy, but there were generally people hanging out down there in the evenings. The steam room was nice and the fitness center was acceptable, not great, but good enough. They need a new bike though… I feel like our family got everything we needed out of our stay at the Silverado. It is a good value for the location and would absolutely stay here again. Ultimately my family does not visit ski towns for the hotels though, if this sounds like you too, then you will love this place. If you are thinking Arrabelle (Vail) then...
Read moreWent with a ski club group. Sauna, Elevator, Handicap Doors - never worked and no resolution dates provided. No slippers or robes provided to get to the hot tub (decent walk across concrete) and the outdoor furniture is not cleared of snow after a snowfall. Everyone has to use the one elevator that works on the Lobby floor regardless of where room is located and it's not that big - especially after you find your own cart in the garage to load your luggage on. The one working elevator broke down and had to walk up stairs (no one seemed to know why the second elevator never worked?). The 2 adjacent elevators in Building 2 work independently - so always hit both elevator buttons to call an elevator. It has been under a new renovation, but seems that with so much still not working - it's not done yet. It is NOT ski in/out regardless of what Google and AI say - it's all uphill to the lifts and IMHO too far to walk in ski gear. Transit buses are the only real option and were reliable. It's not really set up for groups compared to other places stayed (no online check-in, Trip Leader could not sign everyone in, even with providing a credit card). For single unit rentals, check-in is fine. I'd recommending staying in Building 1 as Building 2 is a pain in the butt to get to/from. Front staff and hospitality workers were very nice. Don't stay on 5th floor (Building 1) if you're a light sleeper, as you will hear the HVAC(s)? turn on...
