A would give 5 stars if this hotel had it's own parking lot/garage. Take Lyft.
This hotel is a perfect couples get away. A place to make forever memories.
Where to begin..... From the outside this hotel has a historical comfortable welcoming appearance with a touch of European sitting right off the river. This is a small property so no space wasted on a large lobby. Front desk staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is comfortable and check in went quickly. There is only one elevator but I've waited much longer at hotels with 4+. Our room was comfortable in size and decor, high ceiling, brick walls and spotless clean. Also with a large comfortable king size bed and comfy bedding. The room had a gas fireplace and a very small (standing space only) balcony with a slight obstructed view of the river. A plus to this tiny balcony is if you smoke you can close the door (don't lock yourself out, ha), and have a smoke 🤙🏻. A minus is the balcony is made of metal tubing which is tough on those afraid of heights and the balconies above drip down. Our bathroom was also of a comfortable size and had the standard amenities, also spotless clean. I had reserved a room with a jacuzzi bath and it worked great not loud and plenty of hot water. The tub also had a shower surround, so a quick shower before going out and about is a go. What I found extra cool about this bathroom is the window above the jacuzzi tub area into the room that has functioning shutters. Sexy romantic cool in my opinion.🤙🏻 Also, anyone familiar with old NYC appartments will get a kick out of the similarity to the window between the front living room of a railroad flat and the kitchen where what? The tub was located. HA. So of neg. note regarding the room, no fridge, microwave, or coffee maker. Oh and you may want extra towels. The floor had a small fitness room, min. equipment. I didn't have time to check out. The included Continental breakfast had a nice selection. Did not eat at the on-site French restaurant. The location yet another 👍🏻 multiple awesome restaurants and everything else a walk or quick Lyft away. All this and a very reasonable rate! Will definitely...
Read moreMy husband and I recently stayed at the Penn’s View Hotel. I cannot begin to describe what an excellent stay we had. We are from NY and really had no idea of where we were staying. The historically decorated rooms really caught my eye. In person, it did not disappoint. We stayed in room 300 and we had a beautiful view out of our large windows. These windows provided beautiful light in the morning when the curtains were opened. The room and bathroom were very clean. I am notorious for complaining about cleanliness so I was wonderfully surprised at the Penn’s View Hotel. The shower had both a rain shower head and a handheld portion with a shower bench. The pictures did not really depict how nice it truly was. Housekeeping came in everyday and provided us with everything we needed. We never had to ask. Everyone at the front desk was helpful with great personalities. While booking my husband reached out and dealt with Robert. He provided everything we had asked for and never got tired of my husband calling with questions. Upon arrival, we met the manager Antonio who was also a great guy and was very helpful. There was also another gentleman and woman who were lovely although I did not get their names. During our stay, we ate at the adjoining restaurant Panorama. We enjoyed such a delicious meal that we ate their again before our departure. I can whole heartedly recommend their antipasti, pappardelle with duck ragu and braciola. Our waiter John, made us feel right at home. We even had the opportunity to meet the lovely manager Angela during our first visit. During our return visit, the male manager provided us with some limoncello that was divine. The entire experience at the Penn’s View Hotel was amazing from start to finish. As a historian, it was incredible to stay in a building deemed a piece of history and it was refreshing to see that the owners have decided to have the interior depict a historic period of time. My husband and I will be returning to the Penn’s View Hotel during our next visit to...
Read moreMotel experience for a hotel price. Completely fooled by the comments.
We were disappointed by the service and the room during our stay. We would’ve rather staying in a chain hotel within the same price range since this place is beyond what we saw online through comments and pictures.
From the first moment we step in the hotel, a strong cannabis smell was noticeable, this continued in the lobby, elevator and the room.
The room was looking ok at the first glance until we saw the duvet was basically a dirty blanket covered with a torn, not so clean cover. The bed itself was so sloppy that when you lie down, the end of the bed rises and head side lowers due to the body weight. The bathroom is small, we didn’t use the shower because it wasn’t looking clean.
There’s no parking nor valet available, even though there’s a parking lot next to them. You need to park your car and carry all your stuff to the hotel. Let’s mention there’s no ramp but only stairs to the hotel - yes there is no ramp, unbelievable!
The location is fine but there are better hotels at the same price in the central. There’s a highway next to the hotel so expect a noise during your stay because window frames reflect the same to the room.
I wouldn’t recommend staying there if you’re looking for a decent place, especially if you’re a family and couple or need accessibility. Don’t be fooled by the “boutique” aesthetic...
