I ordered my room through PRICELINE with my VIP option. The hotel booking was easy as can be. Then I received a text from Baymont to do an online check-in to make it easy when we arrived. After filling out the check-in with a 9:30 or 10 pm arrival time. It included my picture ID and explained a small temporary charge would be applied to my card. After hitting complete, the $80.16 was applied to my account. This was great as I've heard horror stories of tourists showing up to their hotel and having to pay a deposit of $250 for the stay. We chose this hotel for three reasons: Hot breakfast / free internet / book now and pay later.
We arrived at 10 pm and I went into the lobby. The small lobby was clean and I peaked into the breakfast area and it was nicely setup. However no one was on duty at the desk. Secondly the security room was open and also empty. I had to wait 10 min for assistance. Her name was Krystal. This is important to note because I'm unsure if all of the hotel staff treats guest the same. She is petite with braids and a seemingly friendly smile.
I let her know that I did a pre-check in and just needed my keys to the room. This is were it goes downhill. She tells me they are not connected to the official Baymont company but owned by an independent group. I looked on the wall and it was called Jalabapa.inc. Below it was another sign that says if we can't fix the issue we will do our best to fix or the room is free.
After the shock of that statement, she preceeded to ask for my credit card to hold for incedentals. I told her I filled that out already. I also told her my picture ID was online as well. Again she said their systems don't synch with Baymont and so she needed it again. I showed her the payment to Baymont for incidentals. She looked at the statement and with disdain said,"that says Baymont but not what it paid for so I need your credit card again." At this point I felt that the hotel was a scam and trying to steal my identity. I told her no, I wasn't giving her my information again and requested a manager. She promptly said, "The manager is unavailable on weekends and can't be called." Now I'm really concerned. She is running this large hotel, by herself, with no way to handle conflicts. She said if I don't comply she won't give me the keys.
I was LIVID. By this time more customers came into the room and I went to get my partner. She tried to calm me down and went to check on the issue. I called Baymont customer service (REF#08457364). I told them they couldn't call her because she now had 6 people in the lobby, the phone ringing, and another angry guest. The hostess looked like she was having a break down. In about 30 min my partner came back and with a smile had keys. Once we were in the room she confided that she put her card on file just to get the keys. NOW I'M PISSED but there was nothing I could do.
The carpet has just be cleaned and was still damp. The room was moderately clean with a few things that were not worth the hastle to go downstairs. The bed was comfy and it had 4 nice pillows. The blankets were fresh and smelled nice. In a few hours the carpet dried and we were able to relax.
GOOD LUCK AND MAY YOUR...
Read moreWarning, if you stay in a pet friendly room, I think they automatically assume your home smells the same and you will not notice the horrible odor. My family and I were assigned room 101 and upon walking in, the room smelled so strongly that my children said they wanted to leave and find another place to stay. It was so bad that there were dark spots on the carpet and I feared that I would smell after being in the room for 30 minutes. I went to the front desk and the young man working there offered to give me some Febreze for the room. There were already Glade plug ins in the room that did not do the job of covering the smell.
After being there for a few hours and my husband and children going to swim, they needed to shower. As they were taking turns showering, I was watching tv and a cockroach walked across the tv stand. We killed it and brought it up front. A different front desk worker, a young lady, working at the front desk apologized and quickly assigned us to a different room (106). It smelled much better (it had a faint dog urine smell, but nothing near as bad as the first room) and it seemed cleaner. We did not see any bugs.
This is the first time my family and I have ever brought our dog to stay with us in a pet friendly hotel. I think in the future we will just board her while we are gone. I get that dogs would probably want to mark their territory in a room where other pets have been, but I watched my dog like a hawk to make sure she did not relieve herself on the floor. It should be a requirement that pet-friendly rooms have LVP floors that can be mopped and properly cleansed, rather than having nasty, soiled carpet.
Also, I am not a big negative reviewer. This is the first time I have ever went to complain to the front desk about anything. I am usually pretty lucky about hotel stays and read reviews. I guess I didn’t do enough research on this place. It may just be that the pet friendly rooms are gross. But I will not be coming back to visit the non pet friendly...
Read moreI stayed with my husband & our 67 pound dog for 3 nights. When we first booked I wasn't sold on this hotel because of the mediocre reviews & for weeks kept looking for another hotel that was around the same price & would allow our dog. I looked within a 30 mile radius, knowing that with the traffic, it would easily be an hour drive to that same area. I'm sooooo glad I stayed with this one!
Price - They were reasonably priced. We paid $342 for 3 nights (after pet fee), I do wish their pet fee was less, $20 a night adds up quick. It's a basic hotel room that no longer offers free breakfast because of COV-ID. 4/5 for Room Rate.
Location - The location is excellent! You can walk to The Island of Pigeon Forge, or many of the nearby tourist shops/restaurants/entertainment venues. 5/5 for Location.
Cleanliness - Again, I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the reviews. The first thing I did when walking into the room was used my Lysol Disinfecting Wipes & cleaned all surfaces. There was only 2 areas to mention, 1 of the nightstands had spots on it & the tub had a hair in it. I was pleasantly surprised that the dirty wipes were not black from dirt. I also didn't know if we'd find areas of dried urine on the carpet or even fleas in the room - didn't find either! 5/5 for Cleanliness.
Pet Friendly - They allowed a bigger dog (many hotels had 30lb weight limit) and the pet friendly rooms were on first floor so we could get in & out easily. The walk between our room (112) and the grassy area for pets reeked of urine. Thankfully the smell was only outdoors & not in our room. The dogs in the rooms next to us would do the same as ours - look out the window at the outside noise. Thankfully you don't even hear much barking from other rooms while in yours. 5/5 for Pet Friendly.
If you're traveling with a pet & don't need anything fancy from your hotel, stay here & you will most likely be...
