This hotel, outdoor pool and lazy river were very nice and the 24 hour access was amazing. The Beds and pillows were very comfy and the room was large and nicely appointed. The negatives 1. They had a beautiful, sweet and scared parrot hidden in the back corner of their hotel as advertisement for parrot mountain. The parrot was NOT in supervision of the front desk staff to protect it from kids or mean adults pounding on it’s plastic barrier or scaring him. He had very limited toys to keep him entertained, only one branch to sit, stand or sleep on and the cage was not large enough or tall enough for the parrot to escape people or to get a good nights sleep. Such a sad and lonely life! It also only had a fabric wreath to play with that I can remember and it clearly wasn’t interested or entertained by it. It warmed up to me after a while and would walk over to me wanting me to pet or rescue him but I couldn’t because of the plastic barrier - Which is great for his safety but so sad at the same time. I cried every night I left his cage. Marriott please purchase a higher and larger cage for this poor parrot so he has the ability to get a break from people, to sleep and also more engaging toys (even if Parrot Mtn sadly didn’t provide those comforts for their walking/living advertisement) and please move him so he is ALWAYS in the view and protection of your front desk staff!!! The toilet in our room had a gross stain in it when we arrived and it still wasn’t cleaned the next day either. The sink facet was incorrectly installed too far back from the sink making it uncomfortable to wash your hands. Also wish the shower had a hand held spray option for those of us with kids and no bathtub. The air conditioner was loud and it didn’t maintain the temp as well as I would like. It would get a little too warm before the a/c would turn on again. I could have turned the ac down so I didn’t get too warm but then I would have been too cold. Not major, but annoying. The bar area closed at 10 pm which was about the time time we got back to the hotel each night and would have enjoyed a night cap knowing we didn’t have to drive anymore. Last but not least - The elevators were incredibly slow even though they had two and there were only 6 floors. Other than the above I’d stay here again and would recommend this hotel. They also have a Starbucks in the lobby which is a big plus and a great breakfast restaurant within a stones throw of the hotel. The gentleman at their front desk was very nice and helpful as was the gentleman who maintains the...
Read moreOverall the experience was really great. We spent the afternoon between the pools and the bar. The staff was very friendly. So much that we ended up cancelling our dinner plans to spend the evening chatting with the bar staff and other patrons.
There were a few disappointments as to why my score is so low. The bar closed at 10pm on the dot. Around 9:45 the bar had at least 8 people that were actively eating and drinking, when we were all told last call. Everyone was quite upset by this, including the 4 new patrons that walked up to the bar as this happened.
We decided to grab one last drink and head to the hot tub. The pools are great and the gentleman that was refilling the pool towels came by and asked people if they needed a fresh towel. Very nice touch, not done at a lot of hotels anymore.
After about an hour we decided to head to the game room to kill the rest of the night. I went to the front desk to ask the woman at the front desk to break a large bill and before I could even finish asking the response was "No!". I was a little taken back by this and asked why, her response was " I cant break a bill that large you will have to go to the ATM ". So I went to the ATM, pulled out $40 in twenties and headed back to the front desk. Same story, I handed her a $20 and asked for change and she told me "No!". Now I'm a little upset, again I asked "Why?". She then proceeded to tell me that I can only give change if you buy something from the gift shop. So I walked to the gift shop grabbed some items, walk back and she rang me out. So I handed her both $20's and asked for change and to complete my purchase. She handed back my one $20 and my change and said "these are all of the singles I have, they don't trust me with a lot of cash at night". Again taken back not only by her comment but upset that she basically had me run in a circle for 30 mins to get $6 in singles for the game room, and to pay almost $4 in ATM fees to get the cash out. I asked if there was a manager available, she said no but the GM would be in tomorrow morning. I let her know that I was out at 7am she said the GM wouldn't be in them, so she gave me a card. Not the way I wanted to end a fun night at the hotel on my last night...
Read moreMy fiance and I have been staying at this hotel usually multiple times per year since 2019. First of all I'd like to commend the amazing management and staff. The manager, J.C. Castro, is an awesome guy and has done a very good job training his staff to be extremely helpful and polite. Seriously, each and every employee that I have came in contact with has been overwhelmingly friendly and has went out of their way to accommodate any request or issue we've ever had. One time, a couple years ago, one of their superb maintenance workers helped me look all around the hot tub and swimming pool and even checked inside the water intake of the water filtration system (where leaves and debris would normally end up) for a ring that I lost, so needless to say, I'm a fan of these guys.
The hotel is amazingly clean, and at the beginning of the pandemic they provided hand sanitizer stations for guests in key points of the hotel. The rooms are clean and tidy and provide the necessities for a short stay other than food (but this can be found downstairs at the Bistro or if you have a 3 a.m. case of the munchies, you can always get a frozen burrito at the front desk.
This hotel has a 24/7 indoor pool, an outdoor pool with lazy river and on the other side of the building you'll find a hot tub. They also have a state of the art fitness center (which I haven't had the motivation to use, but it's nice to know it's there, lol) It's so nice to go outside and take a 3 AM dip in the pool and swim a couple laps around the lazy river and then chill in the hot tub for a bit. Many people use this as their hotel while visiting the Smoky Mountains or Dollywood on vacation, but to my fiance and I (who are locals) this is our vacation home away from home and we look forward to each visit more than the last. This last visit was probably our favorite visit to date and we hope to stay with them for many more years to come. Thank you J.C., staff and owners of this property for providing us with such a wonderful place to visit and making us feel at home each and every time. We hope to see...
