$5 All seats! All shows!
Forge Cinemas opened over a decade ago (Oct 2010). They now have all show tickets priced at $5 apiece. Super affordable for anyone to enjoy a movie. They have 5 auditoriums (seating ranging from ~100 to 240).
They have a box office window accessible from outside of the building, but when we were there it was not in use (maybe due to low business volume). There was no sign stating the movie tickets can be purchased at the concession counter. We guessed this was probably the way they were doing it now and confirmed it while purchasing food items. It would be nice if they put up a sign by the box office window to indicate movie tickets can be purchased at the concession counter.
The current price for popcorn ranges from $6.25 for a small one to $7.75 for a large one. And fountain drinks go from $5.50 for a regular to $6 for a large one. Both with unlimited refills. Bottled water from $4.50, Icee from $6, and candy from $4.75. They also have a Free Candy Combo, when you buy a large soda and a large popcorn, you can get a free candy of your choice (from a list of selections).
We knew how little a movie theater makes from ticket sales, so we supported them by purchasing some food items, especially since they allowed us to spend this small amount of money to enjoy the latest and hottest new movie. There was only one employee working behind the concession counter. We were glad the wait line wasn’t long, otherwise with just one person handling the register and also preparing drinks and food, it could have been a while before we were served.
The movie started promptly. All went well with the show. But when the credits rolled, they didn’t turn on the lights. That made us wonder if there was a post-credit bonus scene - there wasn’t one for the show we watched. Lights really should have been on by then especially since the employee had begun to clean up the auditorium. We felt the employee skipped the part to turn the lights on. Hopefully this will be improved.
All in all, it’s nice to see in this day and age, there is still a movie theater offering $5 a pop especially in this tourist-filled touristy town. Hope they continue to do well in business and we look forward to returning to Forge Cinemas to watch other shows...
Read moreThis really was an above 5-star experience.
Is this a high-end, state of the art theater? No, but you're going to get theater with quality comparable to many theater chains you have probably been to already. You're going to save money, and have a better experience.
The staff is the friendliest that I have ever encountered, and seem to really enjoy what they are doing, and seem to all get along well with one another. They do seem like a really great team!
The popcorn was excellent, and the fountain was perfect. The candy selection was as you would expect. Free refills on popcorn and soft drinks!
The theater I went in was absolutely spotless. The sound system was excellent, and I have never been more comfortable in a theater seat.
The 3D glasses were plastic and sealed in a package when received. You have to return them to a bin where I believe they are taken to be cleaned and repackaged.
When I see what I call "cheap show" ticket prices, I expect a "cheap show" experience, and that is not at all what I got. The overall look and feel of the place really is comparable to your typical theater that would charge much more for tickets. The costs at the concessions are expensive as expected, but factoring in how much less the ticket pricing is vs what we usually have to pay, I think it makes it balance out quite well.
Please support places like this. Seeing a happy staff eager to work is hard to find, so it tells me management is doing something right. I believe most know at this point that theaters make their money on concessions because they have to pay the movie companies to show the movies. With the ticket prices they are probably not making much money on the tickets if at all, and I am sure part of that is to help boost concession sales, so please get your...
Read moreMy family and I have been going to the Forge for a while and we have always loved it. The prices are great and the more selection is usually great too. Then Friday night we decided to go to the movies. We checked the website to see movies and times and decided to see Toy Story 4 at 7:20. Perfect! We get there and they are selling tickets out front (which has not been the case on other visits, but whatever) so my husband gets in line and me and the kids go in to fill the popcorn bucket and get drinks. Meanwhile the line outside isn’t moving. I go to one of the registers to see if we can get the tickets inside instead. She said yes! Perfect! I tell her what we are there to see...and she said that movie isn’t playing tonight... I proceed to tell her that it is on the website, to which she responds that her manager is supposed to update that and she isn’t very good at her job. So at this point we already have the snacks, the manager comes over and basically says we can chose one of the other two movies playing (no offer to see our choice another day for free or discounted, not even an apology for the error) so we suck it up and chose Spider Man which is already a few minutes in. Because we are late, and it’s playing in the smallest of their theater, we end up on the very first row. Not perfect! But it’s a great movie and we have moved on to enjoying ourselves. The movie ends, we wait around to see the post credit scene (because there’s always a post credit scene in Marvel movies), and just as it’s nearing the end of the credits the film shuts off and starts running the pre movie ads. The employee outside the movie apologized and said he wasn’t sure what happened. Overall a very unpleasant experience that has left us ready to take our...
