The good and the bad.
Good....The location is great, close to downtown Gatlingburg. The hotel room has very hot water and there was a smell of bleach when we entered the room. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows.
Bad. Cleaning is not something that is high on their list. The room appeared that it was somewhat wiped down. The floor is filthy, it wasn't even vacuumed. Food was on the floor, crimbs in the bathroom and the windows hasn't been dusted in probably a year. You can write your name on top of the fridge in the dust. The edges of the carpets to the walls have nit been vacuumed in decades I would guess. The underground parking lot is horrific, if you drive an SUV or anything larger than a compact car, this is not the place to park. My husband is a disabled vet and there are 4 handicapped parking spots rows away from the elevators. The large tiles on the grounds that you have to walk on are at least 40 years old and being handicapped, pulling a suitcase is not functional at all, so both of us struggled since I have a broken hip. You can tell that back in the day, this hotel would have been a great place to stay. It hasn't been updated since the 70s I would guess. Our shower appears to have been placed over the bathtub since we have to step up.to get in there and it looks like a stage. They were late in "cleaning" the room and we couldn't get in there until about 4:45, after driving since 6 am, we were tired and wanted to get settled. We belong to Diamond Resorts and did an exchange to stay here, we won't be doing that again. 2 stars is being very gracious. But we will make the best of it and have a great time in spite of the...
Read moreThe location of this resort is excellent. It is away from the hustle and bustle but centrally located to where vacationers can easily access everything. The Front Desk services were not top tier and it almost felt like she did not want to attend to my needs as a paying guest. The rooms, though there is plenty of space for people (approximately 6-8) to sleep comfortably, the room that was provided to me and party was said to have been cleaned. However, there were cob webs and at least two spiders that had to be killed. The showers in both bathrooms had mold and mildew in them, which we purchased supplies to reclean, and the hot water for the first day and a half was not working. The Front Desk did notify maintenance of this and he fixed it right away. The appearance of the rooms gives vintage meets modern. The furniture is modern and updated but the carpet could use a refresh as it appears rundown and flat with minor stains. I would recommend this place for its location but I would advise against due to the rudeness of the staff that you would have to deal with and the appearance of the room for the money that you would...
Read moreThe only good thing about this place is the location. Other than that, this is the section 8 of resorts IF THAT! Everything is outdated and raggedy! The drain upstairs didn’t work, had to hold it to drain the water from a shower. The front lock didn’t work. Even if you lock the door from inside, all you had to do was open the door from the outside and it would unlock the door! GOOD IF YOU LOSE YOUR KEY!!! BAD IF YOU WANT TO GET ROBBED, RAPPED, OR KILLED! The TV upstairs hardly work! Been here for 3 days and currently waiting for maintenance failed to resolve issues. We got stuck here based on the lack of availability of other properties…but next time I’ll stay home! I don’t go on vacation to be less comfortable and more stressed than I would be if I stayed at home!!! Update: I failed to mention how the A/C didn’t work on the last two hottest days of our stay! Trash in the backyard…and the beds...
