We recently stayed here and the resort has a few pros but a lot more cons. Let me preface this by saying that we are not the type of people to ever complain and I never write reviews. The resort has a lot of potential. My whole family booked for the indoor and outdoor waterpark - to give my kids a great mini vacation before school. There were a lot of activities for kids to do in the main area downstairs (it reminded me of a cruise ship). The indoor waterpark is a lot of fun for kids and even the adults. You can not wear bathing suits with zippers if doing any of the slides. I had just purchased swimsuits for my kids and of course they had zippers so they were turned away from the slides. I had to go to the $9.99 store down the road to purchase three more. They do not sell these at the gift shop. The heartbreaking part was when we discovered the outdoor waterpark is not operational during the week - only the weekends. We were not told this at check in or this would've been a deal breaker for us. You can only use the outdoor swimming pool - no slides or kiddie area. My small children were heartbroken so we stopped using the outdoor pool to save on the tears. There was a lobby full of unhappy parents and from what I gathered from others - they were told they were just pretty much out of luck but could have a later checkout.
We stayed in the main tower and the rooms were very dated. (I'm assuming its the original tower.) Not what we were thinking when basing it off of pictures online. My husband doesn't have back issues but he did by day 2 of our trip after sleeping in the bed. The sheets were very rough. The room had a pretty heavy mildew/moisture smell probably from the air conditioner. There are no microwaves or coffee pots in the rooms. There was 1 communal microwave so folks, pick your best looking moo moo to walk down the hallway to heat up your kids leftover slice of pizza.
The fire sprinkler in the hallway near our room was leaking our whole stay with only some towels rigged under the pipe to catch the dripping water. When the towels were saturated it would just leak on you and puddle all in the carpet if you were the unlucky one to walk underneath it. I alerted the front desk when it started leaking all in the floor again but it was the same the next day.
The Wi-Fi needs a lot of prayer and well wishes. If you have a kid watching a movie on an iPad or you're trying to catch up on some work, just save it for when you get home. I was constantly having to reconnect and disconnect for it to work.
I thought the breakfast was okay but my family wasn't a huge fan. It is "all you care to eat" sit down style so you will receive a tray of food for everyone to share. Kids eat free per paying adult and adults are $15 I believe. The ice cream shop was out of almost everything. I overheard the poor lady working the counter telling some guests the truck would "be here tomorrow" with more stock but we came the next day and everything was still out of stock but one or two vegan/sugar free flavors. I do recommend getting the chocolate milk shake - it was delicious even with sugar free vanilla! The lady working was great.
The arcade had a few neat games and a bowling alley that is perfect for kids. The bowling balls are miniature sized. However, we noticed quite a few games weren't working and they were a little expensive. The prizes were nothing to write home about and they were out of a lot of things. It's a good alternative though if you don't really want to leave the resort.
All in all, it was okay. We still enjoyed the indoor waterpark area and the location. My kids are too little to notice the things we noticed other than the outdoor kiddie area being closed. I recommend asking for an updated room...
Read moreI stayed at Country Cascades Waterpark Resort as part of a promotion. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows leave a lot to be desired. There is a communal microwave located on each floor. No coffee maker in room but one can purchase expensive coffee in the coffee shop located on main floor. Place is credit card only. Ever been to Great Wolf Lodge, then think of a cheaper version on a smaller scale with less customer service. The pool designs are great! They advertise heated pools, but I couldn't even put in my big toe. Of the five kids with me, all but one could tolerate the cold water. Even the others would ask to go warm up.||Dance party at the end of the evening is so loud, kids/adults were holding hands over their ears. We ordered two pizzas on site, and they were huge but raw. When asked to cook them longer was told the kitchen was closing in five minutes and they couldn't recook something a guest had already picked up. ||They don't sell day passes to pool so I ended up purchasing a second room to accommodate a child who was staying with his parent at another hotel. They will provide you with towels but will not clean the room unless you make a reservation and pay an extra $25. If you want to stay past the checkout time of 11am, you can pay $50 per hour. My friend paid an extra $100 (didn't tell me she was doing so) but got locked out of her room at 11am. It took close to 30 minutes to get someone to unlock her door. ||If you are concerned about health reasons you may want to pause before making a reservation. This hotel allows WILD DUCKS to swim in its gorgeous advertised outdoor heated pool (NOT). Yet there is a sign that states if your child isn't potty trained to please wear a swim diaper. When I brought to the attention to the lifeguard the ducks were pooping in the pool, she said "yes, they swim in the pool all the time.!"||I had to swap rooms on my last night due to some family leaving a day early. When I took my grandson to have his wrist band updated for entrance to the new room, I was told I had already checked out. I stated my reservation through the company was for 3 nights and 4 days. They said yes, but you have checked out. I said obviously I haven't, I am standing here. After waiting 20 minutes, I told my grandson, we would come back. We observed that it appears that between 12:30-1:30 no one mans the front desk, the expense coffee shoppe nor secondary gift shoppe.||I accidentally left my key fob in the room. It cost me close to $20 to have them contact an outside company to pick up my key and mail to me. It cost $8.95 for the pickup and an additional $10 for the postage. The box the key came in was a recycled amazon box. ||Our party was spilt between two buildings. If you are lucky enough to stay in the so-called main building, it's great! However, if you are in the other building you have to walk outside to gain entrance to the pools, water park, and all other activities. (FYI, it's not too bad if weather is warm, but if weather is cool/cold, it's miserable.). We had warm and cold days. FYI: They keep the entrance to the outdoor pool that is very close to the second building, locked at all times. This makes the guest have to walk a great distance to enter the main entrance of the hotel. Unfortunately, the indoor pool, located in the main building empties into the main entrance of the hotel and has ceramic tile on the floor. Not only did one of my kids burst their rear end on the floor, but I saw a few adults hit the tile as well. ||There is more I could say, but this is the gist. Would I return to this place, I...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. I would not recommend this place unless you have less than 3 kids and can fit into one vehicle. My family and I drove down for the rod run.
We booked the “family penthouse suite”. We drove 8-9 hours to arrive, we get there around 4pm and the girl at the check in/out counter was so nice. She had asked what color/make of the vehicle we were driving so she could make a pass. Well, we drove a truck and a motorcycle. Apparently you are only able to park one vehicle on their property (not sure how you can run a hotel and only allow one vehicle especially when the room we stayed in slept 6 people and they have rooms that sleep more). The lady at the counter said that policy had gone into place that morning, so I had asked since we booked prior and no one had told us can we park. She said no. So I nicely asked if I could speak to a manager (I forgot to get his name) because this is just absolutely absurd, right? The manager comes out and he said that it’s always been the policy and it’s on the website. So I looked it up to verify and you have to dig for it and find it under the “FAQ”. That’s fine, okay. So we ask where can we park the motorcycle. Can we park it in the same spot as the truck? “No because it would stick out too far”. Okay, sure but what about the full sized 8 foot bed trucks that stick out a tad further? It wouldn’t stick out past that. He ignored that. We asked if we could park it in the grass behind the parking spot? He said no. We tried working with him. This is their policy (which is insane) but fine. I’ll respect that. He then tells us we can park at the “red roof barn” he claims is the extra lot that they allow their customers to park in and there’s cameras and security. Okay, fine. He gives us the directions and we go and try to find it. We drove back and forth.. didn’t find it. We called the front desk to ask for the directions again (his staff has no idea what he’s even talking about) his staff then tells us that they use to be able to park in the TGI FRIDAYS parking lot but again that “policy changed today” (kind of seems like they’re making rules as they go) so he explains it to us again. And again.. we don’t find it. TWO AND A HALF HOURS OF HIM SENDING US ON AN WILD GOOSE CHASE.. he finally tells us it’s just a grass lot.. now.. we are not parking our expensive vehicles in a random lot that at this point we don’t even know if is allowed.. because he lied about the name.. there is not name. It’s a grass lot. So we tell him that’s not going to work and he keeps trying to explain the directions. I finally tell him to give us a refund, this is ridiculous. Come to find out he’s been turning business down all day because of this “one vehicle parking rule”.. if I was the owner and heard my manager was turning down money over a parking spot I would be VERY UPSET. So after 3 hours of this he magically came up with a map and route of how to get to a lot with a gate we could pay to store our motorcycle. If it was another full sized vehicle, maybe I wouldn’t have been so upset but it was a motorcycle that will fit almost anywhere. We did end up staying due to everything else being booked.
The room was okay, nothing special. There wasn’t enough furniture for everyone to sit on. The one and only couch there was old, torn and hard. The bedrooms are across from each other and don’t even have a door. The view wasn’t the best. Half the hotel is under construction including the parking lot. In my opinion, was not...
