Mashita Teriyaki — Restaurant in Portland

I have been coming here for years and the service and food have always been good.

Teriyaki Chicken, Spicy Teriyaki Chicken, and Spicy Yakisoba are some of the best dishes here. Along with the 2 piece egg roll or 6 piece gyoza.

The reason for the 3 stars is as of late the chicken here has been cut way too thin. I’m talking so thin all you are getting is burnt pieces or really dry pieces of chicken. The cooks are normally very good at cooking the dishes but I think since the meat is so thin it’s messing with there timing and they are constantly overcooking the food. They use chicken thighs here I believe because the meat normally comes out juicy and tender. I’ll come back a few more times but if nothing changes I will have to find a new spot. I gave this place a 2nd try. Still don't like it. Rice was so sticky I couldn't get it apart and the teriyaki is so salty and has too much gristle, because it was soooo chewy.

And lastly i typically wouldn't give a one start to places but their customer service is SO BAD!! No hello how are you. Or smiling. The dude was on his head phones talking to someone and not to me (the customer) And they literally turned off the lobby lights while i was eating!! They had 20 mins till close and they turned the light off.

I get it. Make the place look closed close to close. WHEN there are no customers in the lobby.

I really don't know how this place has a 4.4 star.

Must be because their is some better employees...

Tonight we went there to purchase two meals teriyaki chicken and spicy pork. The spicy pork taste like tomato juice it was not spicy at all and they teriyaki chicken rice was not fully cooked. I reached out to the owner to let her know.when I explained the issues she said next time you come I will give you something I explained to her I don't think I will come back. At that point she hung the phone up on me I was just trying to give her feedback I never expected her to hang up the phone so rudely I will never go back there and I will not recommend this place to an anyone. Again I'm very surprised how the owner would treat a customer by hanging up on them just because she did not like...
