Let's get the one big drawback out of the way first; this Hotel is 150 years old (Happy B-Day in 2023), so there are no Bathrooms in the individual Guest Rooms. There are 7 separate Individual Bathrooms on the 2nd Floor, and 6 on the 3rd Floor. That being said, Management has done an Outstanding job to minimize the inconvenience. A recent renovation has yielded shiny new bathrooms, complete with Shampoo/Conditioner/Body Wash Dispensers in the Showers. Hair Dryers are also included. I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with the job done by the Cleaning Crew during my 3-Nite Stay. The Bathrooms were Sparkling each day (when I was the first guest in), Paper Towels and Toilet Paper amply restocked, and the Shower Dispensers always at least 1/2-Full. Complimentary Bathrobes are provided, so no matter how you choose to sleep, you can throw on the robe and discreetly TCB in the middle of the nite. You can even purchase the robe should you want a souvenir ($50 I think?). A few of the bathrooms were a little on the small side, but still more than adequate. I stayed in Room# 10 on the 2nd Floor, overlooking Pasquale's on Loraine Ave . I found it very comfortable in size, with ample Closet and Drawer space. Two drawbacks for some people (not for me) were the absence of a Television and Phone. In the 21st Century, we pretty much all have Cell Phones, and I don't Vacation in Put-in-Bay to watch TV (I can pretty much pull up what I need on my I-Phone, anyways). If there was one minor drawback it was that there were only 2 outlets in the room, neither adjacent to the bed. One was where the A/C was plugged in; the other was on the wall opposite the bed, next to a small table with a vintage lamp. It had 3-plug adapter, with the lamp plugged in to one. I found it inconvenient to charge my Phone there, but was easily able to charge up my phone in a Bathroom Outlet each morning while I showered & washed up. There was enough shelf space in the Bathroom where this was not in the way. The staff was amazing! As I said, Housekeeping (which appeared mostly to be college aged) were dressed in Summer Uniforms (matching polos & shorts). Very polite & did a great job. Front Desk Staff was 5-Star! I dealt mostly with Lisa, who was such a Sweetheart! Polite, Helpful, and made sure all my needs were taken care of. I would rate the Hotel 5 Stars overall if not for the Bathroom situation, but like I said, they have done the absolute best they can with this. Besides, likely because of this and the absence of TV's/Phone's, it is one of the best Lodging Bargains on the Island. Conveniently adjacent to the Red Moon Speakeasy and Round House Bar (including Chicken Patio). I have separate recommendations on these establishments. I would definitely recommend giving them a try, especially if you are on a budget. A Coupon may also be available on the Miller Ferry website, though I cannot guarantee this will...
Read moreMy husband and I were very skeptical about this hotel at first, especially because of the bathroom situation but it was significantly cheaper than the rest of the hotels on the island so we decided to give it a shot. It was actually way better than I thought it was going to be. The hotel smelled amazing, it was clean and cool inside, and the rooms were a little small but the beds were comfy, the AC unit worked well once I figured it out, the extra pillows in the closet were covered in dust so that was kinda gross, but the bathroom situation was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
I think there are six communal bathrooms on both floors (12 total not including bottom floor bathrooms) and only 26 rooms so there was never a time that I couldn’t go because they were full. In fact, I only saw the other gusts a few times during our weekend stay. The bathrooms were clean and modern, and we snagged a room right next to them and we barely heard people going in and out (I was worried because I’m a very light sleeper but other than a few closing doors here and there, I didn’t hear people).
It is really loud on the outside (and we were on the side of the hotel) but don’t stay on the main square in put-in-bay if you don’t want the music and loudness of partying all day (obviously? Not sure why people complained about that).
The breakfast was actually more like home-cooked coffee cakes and brownies. I’d have liked to just have a bagel or something classic but it was still good. The coffee was also surprisingly good (my expectations are not very high for hotel coffee so I was happy, ha).
Overall, our experience was great. We didn’t get charged anything extra (they really hammer down on those extra charge fees in the paperwork which had us a little nervous but it was all fine). The atmosphere was awesome inside, we loved how close it was to everything, and the price was low enough to make the bathrooms thing worth it. We definitely would...
Read moreWow. My wife was very hesitant about the floor showers, in fact i didnt even tell her till we got here, but it turned out absolutely amazing! This is the kind of hotel that you stay at if you want to avoid all the drunken chaos that has traditionally accompanied a trip to put-in-bay. This place breaks the mold. We stayed for three days, monday through tursday, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff kept out problems and were extremely accommodating and understanding. Fair warning if your goal is to get trashed and be loud and obnoxious this is not the place to stay for you. It is located right in the heart of downtown, is very reasonably priced and is truly a historic treasure of the island. They rent golf carts for a resonable price, which need to be returned by nightfall, but honestly their return time does not cause a problem because of the location of the hotel itself and all the night time entertainment that is well within walking distance. The general manager is one of those no nonsense people that is both understanding but when you cross the line does not continue to take problems, in fact while we were here one couple got kicked out, after being warned several times, on our first night. Not to mention the rest of the front desk staff that were wonderful, helpful, kind, and truly willing to bend over backwards and help two second honeymooners at were not used to the island. If there were a rating above 5 stars i would give it. I both give my highest recomendation and thank all those who made our fifth annerversay everything i thought it could be. It is the kind of experience that i wish i had cancled all our other activites and had more time at this hotel and in this community. Thank you from the bottom of both me and my wifes hearts to both the park hotel and the island of put-in-bay we...
