I enjoyed my stay there; it's in a great location for exploring local restaurants and attractions in downtown San Diego, close to beaches, parks, and the airport. There were numerous public parking lots a few blocks away, about a 5-minute walk away. The neighborhood is noisy at night, especially on weekends, with lots of crowds and happy vibes until around 2 a.m. For those with kids or senior family members, that could be something to consider. (Disclaimer: I'm from a downtown Northwest city, so staying in a downtown hotel and seeing homeless people is not a culture shock for me, but it may be disturbing for others.) Overall, very easy in and out with the entry codes provided; good privacy and high-speed wifi; the best part of the stay was meeting Leonel and Oscar, the two front desk agents, who were extremely helpful and kind. They gave me all kinds of information about the downtown area and other attractions, asked if I needed any help, and if my room was okay. I requested that the sink be unclogged because the drain was slow, and they did so. Leonel assisted me when I checked out, and he stored my luggage until I arrived with my car. So far, so good, and I wanted to mention that I had some difficulty communicating about refunding a canceled duplicate reservation, which seemed difficult to get a solution on over the Airbnb chat, but as soon as I brought it over to Leonel, he spoke to his financial manager, and they refunded that reservation. I was impressed by this face-to-face customer service; the front desk agents are available daily from 9-4 and really want to make your stay enjoyable! The hotel itself is historical, and it appears to be being renovated, but you can tell from small amenity details that it may require some touches. I will rate my experience 5 stars, and I will consider staying here again if I need to stay in downtown San Diego. Thank you very much,...
Read moreIf you booked on Airbnb, BEWARE! We wish we checked all of the Google reviews before we booked the non-refundable listing, but we checked about an hour later and read all of these Google reviews stating that when customers tried to leave an honest review of their stay, the Airbnb hosts tried to bribe them, and when that didn't work, they harassed them and faked texts from them so Airbnb would take down the bad review, that's why all of their reviews are 5-stars!! This place was an actual DUMP! First of all, it's a red flag that a hotel has to use Airbnb to get people to stay there. You aren't guaranteed the room you see in the picture. The hotel itself is filthy, creepy, and disgusting, and is more a hostel than a hotel. The room was dirty, they provide earplugs which is a bad sign in itself, and this was by far the worst Airbnb we've ever stayed at. Plus, it was impossible to sleep with the thin walls combined with the outside noise. Just as expected, after we leave we get a call asking us to call them back. They asked how our stay went, we told them it wasn't great, they said they could give us partial money back, we said okay. Then they asked if we would leave them a 5-star review now. Okay so you're just bribing us? Why would we leave a 5-star review if we didn't enjoy our stay. We thought they were actually trying to make up for it by providing a refund, but we should have seen this coming. I knew if we left a review on Airbnb they would just fake texts to get it taken down, so we came to Google instead. Hopefully this saves someone else from booking the Airbnb listing. I tried to report this to Airbnb, but they call outside of the app so it's hard to provide evidence, they obviously know what...
Read moreTitle: Beware of Fraudulent Hosts: Airbnb Nightmare!
I am utterly disgusted by the abhorrent service provided by the host of this Airbnb listing. My experience was nothing short of a nightmare, leaving me without a place to sleep at midnight and $140 lighter in the pocket.
I initially reached out to the host prior to booking, as I needed to check in late at 11 p.m. They assured me that it wouldn't be a problem and even confirmed that I could check in within 30 minutes of booking. Feeling reassured, I proceeded with the booking, only to be met with a rude awakening.
Immediately after making the payment, the host had the audacity to inform me that they had mixed up the dates and didn't have any available apartments. Talk about a complete lack of professionalism and organization! When I demanded a refund, they callously brushed me off, promising to process it the next day. But surprise, surprise, the refund never materialized.
Their blatant disregard for customer service and honesty is appalling. Instead of rectifying their mistake, they continued to give me the runaround, claiming that their manager would sort things out, only to conveniently vanish into thin air. It's evident from my experience, coupled with the discovery of fake five-star reviews, that this host is nothing more than a deceitful fraudster.
I implore anyone considering booking with this host to steer clear unless they enjoy being swindled and subjected to a horrendous living experience. This individual has no regard for integrity or good service. Save yourself the headache and avoid this fraudulent host...
