Oh. My. Gosh!!! Ochocielos is amazing! Is there a way to give them more than 5 stars??? Just a word of advice: make sure you have time, as they are very busy on a Saturday at brunch/lunch time and it takes a while to get a table, and I guess that should go without saying. We were ignorant to that and were a little pressed for time - that's OUR fault, not theirs. But let me tell you, no matter how long, it is SO worth the wait! I got the smash burger and it was by far the best burger I have ever eaten. Hands down. The beef was cooked perfectly and juicy and incredibly flavorful, and the onion bacon jam was the most perfect touch. SO good! My wife ordered the French toast and it was huge and the combination of toppings they put on it made it even more amazing, plus the scrambled eggs were the best! The staff is very friendly, and our server, Esteban, was incredible! He is incredibly polite, considerate, and attentive. And we felt bad we were in a rush, but let him know we were on a tight schedule and he was SO accommodating, getting our check ready as soon as we got our food and coming right back to run our card and give us our receipt so we could leave as soon as we were done eating. 5 stars for Esteban alone! Would it count as 10 stars if my wife and I both leave 5 star reviews??? 😁 I can't say enough good things about Ochocielos! When you are in San Juan, you MUST go...
Read moreSo we went to Ochocielos for brunch to see what all the hype was about and it was horrible! This place is all show, its only trending because its a local hipster hangout. It took the waitress over 10 minutes to get our drink order and 15 minutes more after that to take our food order , thats after we were seated and the place was mostly empty. We orderd the chilaquiles and the italian grilled cheese as well as an iced matcha with almond milk and an irish coffee. The drinks took 15 minutes, and thats after I had to explain to the waitress twice what an Irish coffee was (which I take in the simplest of ways just Americano with a shot of wiskey)! When we finally got our food after the drink ordeal it looked pretty good and we were eager to dig in. The chilaquiles were just ok, the portion was huge but the dish would have benefited from some crema to make it silkier and some salt to make the flavors pop more. As for the grilled cheese it was just a fat bomb, the combination of cheese was not the best and made the sandiwch way to rich. And to top it all off they only toasted the top bun and all the juices flowed into the bottom and made the sandwich soggy and disgusting. The best part of the meal were the drinks! I dont recomend this...
Read moreI have never written a review before, but Ochocielos in Puerto Rico is worth the hype. I’ve been to this charming restaurant three times, and each visit has been nothing short of exceptional.
The star of my brunch experiences has been their chicken sandwich. It’s simply delicious, and a pro tip: order the coleslaw on the side to keep the bread from getting soggy – it’s a game-changer! The balance of flavors and the crispy, perfectly cooked chicken make it a standout dish.
I also had the pleasure of trying their stuffed French toast with strawberry cheesecake filling. Let me tell you, it’s to die for. The richness of the cheesecake combined with the sweetness of the strawberries creates an indulgent treat that’s perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Special mention to Jay, my server on all three occasions. She was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations and ensuring a delightful dining experience every time. Her warm and professional service truly added to the overall enjoyment.
Ochocielos has become my go-to spot for a fantastic meal in Puerto Rico. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this restaurant is a must-visit. Don’t miss out on...
