Arena Medalla — Restaurant in San Juan

The service was HORRIBLE. I can’t even explain it. I don’t even wanna say the name of the server I had. However, it took him forever to bring up the first round of drinks. Food didn’t take long to come out. & the food wasn’t that bad. I’ll rate it a 7/10. He never came back to our table after the food came out. We were sitting there with no drinks.. only that first round that he got us. I couldn’t even finish my food because I had nothing to wash it down with. He kept walking by and still not coming to us. At that point, I started getting upset and highly annoyed I just wanted to leave. I called him over as he was passing our table and asked for boxes to Pack the food and the tab. Took him about 25 mins to even do that. He kept passing by us with other people's drinks and still not bringing the 2 simple things I asked for. Until my boyfriend pulled another server or I don’t even know if he was a server I think he was a busser & asked him what was going on with the service that we’ve been waiting 25 min for boxes and a tab. As my boyfriend is talking to that gentleman, our server sees us and just gives us a look like he forgot and rushed to get our stuff. On top of that, he was standing there waiting for a tip. My bf even got upset with me for giving him a tip.. that’s how poor the service was. Gave him a tip because he made me feel at that moment like I needed to give him something.. he didn’t say anything but he was just standing there. If he had walked away after I paid I would’ve gotten up and left. However, after I paid and clicked no thank you for the tip option he was just standing there looking at me like he was waiting for his tip. I feel like he should’ve known that he gave us poor service. Because it truly was poor. I still gave him a tip however I gave him more than I should’ve. This is my first time writing a review because it genuinely got me upset with the way the service was. We wasted our time there. I just hope you guys get it together and teach your employees to learn about how to give better service . I’m a server and a bartender myself and no matter how many tables I have, I always go back and check on every single one of them. And this was my first time inviting my boyfriend for dinner since we got here to Puerto Rico and everything was just bad. We both left annoyed that we didn’t even stay to do what we wanted and came home. That’s how annoyed we were and that’s why I’m writing this. Please work on your service. I will say the atmosphere was nice and that’s why we were trying to just let everything be and enjoy the moment but we just couldn’t anymore...

Terrible service! I went here a few months ago and thought to share our experience.

I joined a friend who was here with her coworkers. There were also multiple events going on this day so it was heavily packed. Two of my friends and I decided to order some food. We made an order with a guy who had come by to bring food for other people in the group. Or so we thought. About an hour had passed. We gave the benefit of doubt since we understood how busy it was. Apparently he hadn’t taken our order and he wasn’t our waiter at all.

Our real waitress came by and took our order. We were still pretty chill since we were gonna be at Arena for a longer while. One of my friends got a bit tipsy. She wasn’t bothering anyone, was even almost falling asleep. I had to accompany her to the bathroom because she wasn’t feeling well. It had maybe been almost ten minutes. Tell me why the waitress thought it would be a great idea to find us in the restroom? I told her to give me a moment because, clearly, we’re in the bathroom, we’re busy. I don’t have to explain to an employee why I’m taking long in there. Instead of just leaving she basically pulled me out to explain some nonsense I couldn’t even hear because of the music being so loud. I could tell in her face she was annoyed, which again was irrational. I’m pretty sure she thought that the both us were drunk, when I was fully sober and trying to help out my friend.

Almost as distasteful as their bbq ribs, I may add. Horrible horrible experience which sucks because the first time I ever went here was actually pleasant. Don’t plan on ever going again.

Good bar wings, cold beer but the manager working yesterday(01/21/24) is extremely rude. The other servers are very competent and respectful.

One thing though, they don’t take reservations or keep a list to let patrons in. We went there and tables were full and we were told to wait in the bar and they’d let us know when something cleared. A table cleared and we told the staff we were interested and after the hostess said it was okay and they would clear the table we sat around it to watch the game while we waiting for the table to be cleared. About five minutes after that the manager came over to remove us- some other people had gathered around our table and were watching the game. He said we had to move because tables were assigned first come first served and that was a table for four and our party was too big. I explained our party was exactly four and we didn’t know the other people and I also explained I had been waiting outside, was next in line and had told the hostess a table had just cleared and got her okay for the table. The manager started yelling me (aggressively- not just because it was loud) at which point my husband intervened nicely and told him he didn’t understand what was happening and explained the same I just had. I interjected to tell him again we didn’t understand to which he yelled (his face looked like it was going to explode)- WE’RE HANDLING THIS.
