I purchased two suits and three custom shirts from Indochino this year, with mixed results. I ultimately had to have my suits fully remade once, and then altered again. I had to have my shirts remade twice, and was disappointed with the quality. At times throughout this process, I received excellent customer service, and at others I did not. And scheduling is a pain with Indochino - each time I needed alterations, it was impossible to get weekend appointments in a reasonable amount of time, and there were rarely weekday appointments after 4pm.
I ultimately went to Indochino because I struggled to find an off-the-rack suit that fit me. I have a short torso but a broad chest, and was told by Nordstrom that they couldn't do anything but a custom suit if I wanted a proper fit. Indochino was more affordable, and a family member had raved about his experience, so I opted for their suits.
I placed an order for the items in April, and the staff at the Seattle Indochino were polite and helpful. The suit options are nice and they were patient when I was indecisive on some options. I needed the suits for a job in D.C. from June through August, and was told my order would take about six weeks.
The suits and shirts arrived in 5 weeks, which was great. Unfortunately, not a single item fit me. In spite of losing a bit of weight after my fitting, every item was way too small. I could barely button the tops across my chest. Additionally, while the suits looked great, the quality of the shirts was very disappointing. The shirts that arrived were scratchier and thinner than the ones in the store, and they had abnormalities in their patterns. So, I went to the Georgetown Indochino in D.C. for alterations.
The D.C. staff were very accommodating on my first visit. They were apologetic and informed me that it appeared I had either been mis-measured or the Seattle staff had used the wrong suit fit for my body type. They re-measured me and placed a completely new order. Unfortunately, this meant waiting another 6 weeks for my suits and shirts.
When my new order finally arrived, the jackets didn't fit. Once again, they were too tight across the chest. The shirts were wearable, but unflatteringly tight, and still disappointing in quality. I went in for alterations again. The staff this time were significantly less friendly, and seemed irritated that I had issues with the fit. I was informed that Indochino could alter the slacks and the suits, though. I decided to just take the shirts as they were and left the other items for alterations.
It took almost a month for the alterations to be completed, and when I would call for updates staff were unhelpful over the phone. When I picked up the final alterations, the suits finally fit. They don't fit perfectly, but they are serviceable and I was ready to cut my losses.
Ultimately, I spent a chunk of change for two suits that are fine and three shirts that were disappointing. The whole process took over four months, and I spent hours going to and from the stores and sitting through multiple fittings. And I ultimately only wore the suits for one week of the job that I purchased them for. I realize my build is difficult to fit, but overall I was disappointed with the custom experience at Indochino.
I'm not writing this review to try and smear Indochino or their staff; I had multiple employees who were extremely helpful throughout this process. However, if you are trying to get a suit on a timeline, or if you have a somewhat unconventional build, Indochino may not be the right option for you. And if you're looking for shirts, you can find something of better quality at Banana Republic or...
Read moreI'm writing this review on behalf of my brother because he is much more patient and nice than me. I went in with him to get fitted and help him shop for a suit nearly a month ago. The person that measured my brother really didn't seem to care about the details and seemed to want to rush through the customization options (such as not asking what color of buttons he would like on the suit). My brother really liked a fabric that according to the salesman was on sale for $299 for the suit. When he put the order in he said it was showing no longer available but he could push it through. He informed my brother he would have the suit in 3 weeks. Fast forward two weeks. My brother looks online the order hasn't even been processed. He places a call to the salesman. He says he will go ahead and get it processed. The following week, he looks online again...still not in process! He calls the main customer service line to see if he can get some help to get things going. Nope...they were absolutely worthless and couldn't even transfer him to the Seattle store so he could talk to someone there. He called the Seattle store directly again and talked to the manager who apologized and said she could go ahead and get the order processed. Mind you, this is now 3 weeks after his fitting, which according to the salesman is when he was supposed to be receiving the suit. My brother also mentioned to the manager that he was charged more for the suit than the sale price of $299. She informed him that the sale was only online and not available in the store, but did agree to refund him "this once" after he told her the salesman had told us it was $299. Umm....there was even a sign in the store window while we were there that said it was on sale for $299. When they finally got the order processed, he was able to see the color of buttons that were selected on the order. On a dark suit, they opted to go with light buttons and not dark. He called the very next day to see if he could get black buttons. The manager told him it was too late and they would have to fix it after he received the suit. Nothing is more annoying then having to place multiple calls to follow up on something you have paid for because people can't do their jobs. Very disappointed in the lack of follow-through and customer service. If and when my brother ever gets his suit, I hope it's at least a...
Read moreAre these real people creating these reviews? Customer beware that your suit will probably take up to two months from start to finish. My first impression of this place was how pretty the suits were in the showroom but that was my only positive impression of this experience. Walked in and waited standing there for 15 mins to even be approached by an employee, when someone came up to me all I was asked is if I had an appointment. I did have an appointment but had to was 30 min to be helped. The main guy seeming to be running the place was clearly overwhelmed, there was 8 other people or so waiting to be helped and he informed us all that “ somehow everyone was doubled up on appointments and he didn’t know how long it would be and understand if we rescheduled” I should’ve taken that as a hint of how the whole experience would go. I felt rushed during my fitting and didn’t feel like I was being measured correctly but I assumed the worker new what he was doing so didn’t question it. After making my purchase $800+ I went home and reviewed my email confirmation to find he didn’t place the details correctly so I had to reach out to the customer services 800 number which wasn’t a bad experience and they fixed the details of buttons and details. After getting my suit in the mail I found my pants to be too long and baggy which I folding the person measuring me how I liked them to fit, the jacket sleeves were too long and looked like someone twice my arm size was measured. I took the suit back and showed they tailor what I wanted changed and how I like it and I asked if he could see what I meant he responded In a rude tone “ no not really but if that’s what you want”. After getting the suit pinned they told me it would take up to 4 weeks. I called today since it’s been over 30 days waiting without any type of communication and they said “it’s our busy season so it will be another two weeks”. If I would’ve know this would take this time and the service was terrible I would’ve never walked in the door. I shouldn’t have to wait two months for a suit that was measured incorrectly...
