Overall stay was good at the beginning. We stayed 2 nights, 3 days total. Checked in around 4pm and checked out at 2pm (asked for late check out the night prior).
Overall cleanliness of the hotel was great, minus the hot tube/pool area. The hallway stairs and carpeted floors did need some extra cleaning. Some cob webs in the stairway.
We felt very out of place, not by the guests but by the staff members. This was our first time sleeping at this hotel. We have been to many Hilton hotels and other ones in VT and to many different states. It felt as if because of our age or the way we looked is why we got treated poorly verses other guests in the hotel. But like the rule always says, you should never judge a book by it's cover. We had brought a good amount of money with us to spend because this was my vacation that I have waited over a year to take. The morning of our last day spent at the hotel, my husband went outside as I was in the bath taking a nice hot shower to help relax before our drive back home. My husband had all three card keys on him at the time. He went to go back inside the hotel and he was locked out. The cards did not work. He started knocking on the door because he saw a woman cleaning a room right in front of him. She just looked at him. Did nothing. Put her hands up and what it seemed like was saying "nothing i can do. I can't let you in if your card does not work." Now I understand you guys are trying to prevent random strangers from entering the hotel. But woman saw my husband leave the stairway from his room to the outside entrance. She could of asked what was the problem, anything I can help you with, or possibly get someone from the front desk who could help. He did not have his cell phone on him at the time. He stood outside for almost a hour waiting for someone to come help him. No one showed up. I finally finished my shower and was wondering what was taking him so long, so I went downstairs to find him outside in anger. It was very hot outside, very sunny. I called the front desk immediately. The lady at the front desk said we should of left by 12pm for check out and that's why the keys did not work. I told her I specifically spoke to someone the night prior asking for a late check out, and we agreed to 2pm. Then she said the lady that night was suppose to give me new keys. I wish we would of known that. What if we left to go swimming, left all of our personal belongings inside and then have someone go clean our room? What if we both left and got locked out. It just was a very uncomfortable and frustrating situation. I got a simple " I am sorry that happened to you, they should of gave you new keys", and then hung up the phone. Very poor communication/training skills in my eyes. My husband was so embarrassed standing outside, having guests watch him try knocking on the door to get someone's attention. The cleaning lady laughing inside. It was very unprofessional and straight up rude. Working in retail and with customer service, this was by far the worst experience we have encountered at any hotel.
When I checked us in, no one told me any of the amenities, rules, etc of the hotel. I found out all of them when I was checking out. I was standing behind a new guest, when the nice lady at the front counter was explaining about the hotel. I was never told about breakfast, the rules of the pool/gym area. (You have to let the front desk know you are using the pool first so they can clean it in-between guests). The coffee area was open all hours. (Never was told this).
We have had better experiences at cheaper hotels with much better customer service. Treated way better than this place. Such a disappointment for how much we spent for the room.
The price was definitely pretty steep. For two nights it cost us almost 900 dollars. We loved the room had its own kitchen area with a full sized fridge/freezer. Stove top and all the utensils/pans needed to cook...
Read moreGoogle Maps made me add my current food review to a general hotel review that I wrote four months ago. This time, I’m adding photos.
I’m back at the Homewood suites in South Burlington, VT, enjoying one of the best breakfasts in town. I’m not kidding. The breakfasts here surpass anything I’ve found at other Hiltons, other hotels or even restaurants. It’s the combo of amazingly delicious food and getting to put it together yourself for just what you want.
My husband & I travel a lot for work & pleasure. I’m the last person who wants to eat a hotel breakfast. I’d rather make a smoothy in our room.
Along with offering a variety of egg dishes and meats, they always have a breakfast burrito bar with savory pork carnitas & customizes toppings. My favorites are the pickled red onions (bright pink & amazing), the salsa verde and their honey-lime chipotle crema. Forget the tortilla and add these to any of the egg dishes to make your own mouth-happy combination. Today, I’m having a piece of the homemade Greek omelet (spinach, mushrooms, feta and black olives).
Then there are the pastries. Close your eyes and say yummmm. You’re extra lucky if you get to enjoy the pain au chocolate(a small chocolate croissant). Try not to take more than one or two!!! Muffins are not usually my thing, but I can’t wait to try these. Today, I’m having (after my pain au chocolate) homemade apple-crisp. Mmmmm!
There is a wide variety of standard breakfast foods. Many of which I’m sure are “extra” delicious. I just get too full of my favorites to try them.
Why is the food so good? It’s due to several women who prepare it. Exactly what they start with and how they create it is a mystery to me, but they are very friendly, proud of their service and shared with me their pickled red onion recipe. They have the usual battle of keeping the food looking appetizing as hungry hordes serve themselves, but don’t let a little disarray dissuade you.
Hilton should promote these women to the top of their food division, let them go wild and pay them outrageous salaries. They are worth it & so is their food.
Four months ago I wrote: The breakfasts here are phenomenal!!! Especially for a chain-hotel. I wish it was this easy to make such a delicious breakfast burrito at home. The homemade pink-onions are a surprising treat. Fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, overnight oats with oat milk are wonderful healthy selections that balance out the delicious fresh homemade pastries, of which I always take two🤫.
Our room is clean and recently decorated. The bed is super comfortable. We appreciate the full kitchen. The shower is great. We have yet to use the pool or jacuzzi. The location is good for shopping, and there is a wilderness area nearby with trails.
We travel a majority of the year for our jobs and super appreciate finding this gem. Thank you Homewood Suites in...

Family of four, we stayed here three nights in early January. From the moment we walked inside, the friendliness of staff was noticeable. Thought maybe it was a one-off, but this was a theme throughout the stay with absolutely every staff member willing to go the extra mile. Extra toilet paper, top up of shampoo, fixing a key card that didn't work - everything was taken care of fast and with a smile. We have stayed in much more expensive hotels that could not match this level of service.
The property is stylish, airy and seems very well kept. Fruit, lemon water, coffee and tea available 24/7. Our room, a two queen one bedroom suite, was huge with a little kitchen area. Nice sitting area with a sofa, chair and ottoman. TVs in each room with a long lineup of channels including HBO.
Gym is big with a few extra machines beyond a standard hotel gym. Pool and hot tub area looked nice and clean, but we didn't use it.
Breakfast is way better than standard. Nice variety every day with French toast, pancakes, sausages, omelette, boiled eggs, etc. Also waffle maker, fresh fruit, yoghurt, etc. So great to have breakfast like this, especially with the meagre offerings other hotels have defaulted to post pandemic.
Evening social on Wednesday was a nice bonus. Wine, beer, salad, soup, crackers and cheese. The hotel manager even ran a little game show which was a lot of fun.
There's a DC fast charger on site, which is nice, but you have to pay. Remember to bring a CCS or Chademo adapter if you drive a Tesla. However, there's a supercharger just a few minutes down the street.
We came for some skiing, and even though the conditions were not perfect, we enjoyed Bolton Valley. This hotel is also not far from Stowe and other resorts.
We feel really lucky to have found this gem of a hotel. Truly wish Hilton properties everywhere could be run as well as this hotel. We are definitely staying here again next time we're...
