My fiancee and I needed somewhere to stay for the night and we didn't want to shell out a ton of money for one nights stay so we went with a more cost friendly option. The double queen beds were priced around $97 bucks plus tax of course. Ours was a last minute booking so I am sure if you booked further in advance you would find a better deal.
Right when you walk in, there was no one at the desk for a while, even after using their call number. There are a ton of pamphlets and coupons for the local area which was fun and convenient. There is a pool and a Jacuzzi although not in use due to COVID. Small but looked clean. They had a coffee and tea station which was not great but also not the worst we have ever had. The coffee did have a weird cinnamon/spicy burn to it of all things. It is definitely a very dated hotel. The ceilings, walls and doors are stained, shred up, and very worn in most places. The door was sticky to open and close.
We walk into the room and it actually looks fairly clean and smells fine (I saw some people/reviewers mention a smoke smell but I did not smell this myself). The sink to wash your hands was outside of the bathroom. The toilet was so low and small and smooshed right next to the tub which was very narrow, short and insanely slippery so be careful of that. However the bathroom was fairly spotless minus the stained and rusty ceiling. The beds were actually really clean (my fiancee who used to work for ORKIN pest control inspected it too and said it looked good). However they are solid and hard as a rock and we woke up feeling incredibly sore. The AC works to a degree. It blows cool air but you cannot actually change the temperature in the room even if you bring it all the way up or down. In fact the temperature slowly kept rising in our room from 72-76 even thought we at one point point the AC all the way down to 65. The carpet felt greasy. The beds were also smaller than what was advertised. We have a queen at home and these were shorter and more narrow. The tv was decent and got good channels and there is free wifi. There was also a mini fridge, a microwave, and a safe which you have to pay a $4+ dollar charge for regardless if you use it or not.
Honestly the price is not bad and it was clean where it mattered most. The only reason I would not go back is due to the beds being so darn uncomfortable. I would rather fork over a little bit more money just so my back wouldn't be killing me the next day. But if you like a firm spring mattress then this is the place for you. Maybe the king beds are different who knows. If you want to save a buck and don't have back issues/are more resilient than us than I would say it was worth it to save $50+ bucks per night on...
Read moreWe arrived in Burlington at 4:30 in the afternoon with no reservations. It just so happened to be the week all the college kids were arriving too so the city was really jumping. The Anchorage Inn was our second stop. They were $50 less than the Holiday Inn right down the road. We actually got the very last room available, which could have been worrisome but it was fine. Yes, the whole hotel needs updating. The carpet appears old and stained. The bath tub was a pastel blue and the entire bathroom was tiny. BUT, the room was very clean. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the sheets were snow white, spotlessly clean. There was actually a heavy blanket as well as the comforter on each bed which my husband and I loved. We like to sleep with the fan on but with nice heavy and cozy blankets. Too often in a hotel you get a sheet and one thin comforter. There was a microwave, a mini fridge, and a safe in the room as well as a new flat screen tv. The wi fi was good. We didn't use the pool so I can't comment. Despite being 100% full, the whole place was quiet and I slept very well. As far as the European breakfast, this all depends on your point of view. I have stayed at a few places that have fantastic breakfast facilities with waffle makers, eggs, bacon etc., but most of the time, you get pretty much nothing. I stayed at a Holiday Inn recently for much more money and we got coffee made in a Keurig. No food. Many many times I have stayed at places with nothing but coffee or coffee and a few stale donuts. That was what I was expecting, but that's not what I got. The coffee was excellent, fresh brewed Green Mountain coffee. There was also tea, milk, and orange juice. There were apples and oranges, several types of donuts, several flavors of Yoplait yogurt and also several types of cereal, such as Total, Cheerios and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I had an orange, a donut, blueberry yogurt and two cups of coffee. That's all I need for breakfast so I was perfectly happy with that. No, this place is not fancy, but for me, I would much rather save$50 and not have fancy art work on the lobby walls. It was everything I needed it to be, clean, comfortable and quiet with a very...
Read moreA week after staying at this establishment I was hit with bogus smoking charges. My friends and I spent one night in Vermont and were initially stoked at how close this place was to the mall since we wanted to do some light shopping. For the price we paid it was a pretty decent hotel, albeit no elevator so thankfully we were on the first floor. The bathroom is really small. I spoke with the GM multiple times since finding this charge and I did advise him that we had cannabis in the room but in no way, shape, or form did we consume any in the hotel. There couldn't be any proof that we smoked in the room because it didn't happen and I have yet to see any "proof" that they collected (it would be impossible). I was told by Ron the GM on March 20, 2019 @12:36pm that he would issue a credit for that charge. I waited for any reversal to happen but didn't see any so I called back on March 26 @ 1:18pm and he said he'd check with the front desk to see if they had reversed it. He advised me multiple times that he would call back after confirming my phone number but did not call me back once. I called again April 1st at 10:38am and asked for Ron. I spoke with the front desk if they knew anything about reversing the smoking charge for my room and was advised to call back and speak to Ron the GM. I called back later @1:22pm and was advised by Ron that he wouldn't reverse the charges. I told him to send me the proof that he had that we'd smoked in the room and he told me to call Geleg at the front desk for that. Why would a person waste my time for two weeks and tell me multiple times they were going to reverse bogus charges and fail to do so? Initially I would have recommended this hotel because the beds were comfortable, rate was affordable, and location was awesome, but I can't in good conscience advise anyone to book a room here because of this headache of an experience. The smoking charge was 450$ Canadian and the room itself cost us $69 for the night. Honestly could have stayed at a premium hotel and it wouldn't have...
