I recently had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating encounter at Michaels while attempting to purchase a Christmas tree, which turned into a nightmare thanks to the appalling customer service provided by the store manager. My experience was marred by rudeness, unhelpfulness, and an overall lack of concern for customer satisfaction.
Upon entering the store, I was delighted to find a display model of a Christmas tree that perfectly matched what I was looking for. However, my excitement quickly turned into dismay when I realized it was the only one left in stock. Despite this, I proceeded to inquire about purchasing the display model.
The manager, whose demeanor was unwelcoming from the start, demonstrated a complete lack of interest in assisting me. When I found out the tree I wanted and showed online available, was not available in the store, I asked if it was possible to purchase the display tree, she responded curtly, stating that it was indeed for sale but made no effort to assist with the process, and advised I would have to place the order online and come back once it was boxed up. As a customer, I expected at least a minimal level of service and cooperation, which was sorely lacking.
To add insult to injury, when I returned after receiving a text that my online order was ready for pickup, I drove to the store to find, it was not ready..30 minutes later...it was sitting up front by the registers, in a very large opened box. I approached and asked if that was my tree, she stated it was in an annoyed manor. I requested tape to secure the open box for transportation, the manager callously refused, stating she had none, leaving me to figure it out on my own. Carrying a large, unwieldy box, exposed and vulnerable to damage, without any support or assistance from the store's personnel was incredibly frustrating and unacceptable. I got it home and found one of legs on the tree stand completely twisted and out of place (metal) I was able to adjust it back in to place somewhat but my tree is looking tippy because of it. After all this I was over it and decided to keep it regardless.
The manager’s dismissive attitude and refusal to provide basic assistance left me feeling utterly disregarded and frustrated. It's disheartening to witness such abysmal customer service, especially from someone in a managerial position who should be setting a better example for their staff.
As a loyal customer of Michaels for years, this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and has severely tarnished my perception of the store. The lack of basic assistance and empathy from the manager was unacceptable and deeply disappointing.
In conclusion, the experience I had at Michaels while attempting to purchase a Christmas tree was nothing short of a nightmare, all thanks to the appalling customer service exhibited by the manager. It's disheartening to see such disregard for customer satisfaction and basic courtesy, and I sincerely hope that steps are taken to rectify these issues to prevent others from enduring a similar ordeal...
Read moreWithout a doubt the worst experience at Michael’s craft store I’ve ever had! I shop there religiously, but not at this location, I order on-line all the time and I have a small fortune invested in all of the yarn and art supplies I bought there. The young man that waited on us or didn’t wait on us at the South Portland branch should not even be working there. Number one is all of the older women came up to the counter he kept telling us self checkouts down there use your credit or debit self check out, is down there use your credit or debit, and would not take a customer when I finally figure out how to put my coupon in a machine, I walk outside and here is Mr. personality sitting on the sidewalk outside the door, smoking a cigarette and on his phone. This should be noted that once he left the store, no one came to work the front counter. Two other ladies said I wonder if he’s special-needs? I think he’s lazy, and if that’s the case, Michaels is enabling his behavior. Definitely not a store. I will ever go in again. No wonder it’s never busy, the stock is always a mess and the store is dirty. If this is any indication of the staff that works there the store should close! I hope that corporate sees this because they really need to take a good hard look at...
Read moreTerrible customer service. I wanted to purchase a few additional floral stems that I had bought online a couple of days prior. The items online were 40% off and when I rang them in store, they rang at full price. I notified an associate and she told me they were not actually not part of the sale and that she could not override the price. Keep in mind, these are currently 40% off online. She referred me to the manager who told me it was policy to not honor online sales. I was told to place an online order for the product that I was holding and then pick them up. When I told her I was not able to do that right now and asked for them to be held, she said that she would hold them back but if another order came in first, she would have to prioritize that one. She told me to call customer service which I did only for them to tell me the store managers absolutely are able to override and honor online sales. Absolutely RIDICULOUS! some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. It's no wonder online shopping is taking over. Who wants to deal with entitled, ill informed and unmotivated sales people? I am just asking for a little customer service. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this depressing location!...
