While enjoying our trip to Tampa my hotel recommended going to the Paddy Wagon Irish Pub , we were told it was a great place to go. Our Bar tender Rob was not very pleasant nor was he very attentive to the patrons . He seemed to want to be someplace else rather than work. The bar was slow with only 5 patrons and Rob was not very cordial nor was he willing to wait on anyone in a timely manner. He seemed annoyed with our questions about the area and was off putting in his demeanor. Another Bartender Melissa came on shift and was very helpful and gave great service. As Rob was our Bartender we asked for more drinks and he ignored us. Then Melissa stepped on to help. Rob was rude and ignored the patrons. We then gave him a bad review. He asked if we did and we said yes! You are rude. He then cashed us out and said finish your drinks and leave “ how dare you mess with my livelihood ” we said we would. A reminder minutes later he asked us to leave again with out our drinks being finished and then threatened to call the police. To have us leave. Rob has poor customer service skills and a chip on his shoulder, maybe some additional training is required for him. Melissa asked what was going on and we explained about the review and she said “ that’s your right” she then said that she was sorry our evening was ruined and hoped it wasn’t our last visit. She apologized for Robs poor customer service and his...
Read moreTerrible Experience with ID Policies
We visited this bar expecting a fun night out, but instead were met with unnecessary frustration and disrespect. Despite presenting both a valid Canadian driver’s license and a Nexus card—two forms of identification that are widely accepted and, in the case of the Nexus card, require extensive federal security clearance—they refused us entry.
For context, the Nexus card is a trusted traveler program ID that requires background checks by both U.S. and Canadian authorities. It’s one of the most secure forms of ID available, recognized federally and at international borders. Yet, the staff seemed either unaware of its legitimacy or simply unwilling to accept it.
To make matters worse, their attitude was condescending and dismissive, as though we were at fault for not providing "acceptable" ID according to their arbitrary standards. If a federally issued and highly vetted Nexus card isn’t good enough, then what is?
This kind of rigid and uninformed policy is not only inconvenient but insulting. It's one thing to enforce ID requirements, but another to reject legitimate forms without reason. Needless to say, we won’t be coming back and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values fairness or...
Read moreMy brother and his girlfriend came to visit Tampa from the UK, I was so excited to show them all the cool spots in the city. But this place was extremely difficult and definitely lacking diversity (we could literally see that with just a quick glance), so they decided they were not gonna let my brothers Indian girlfriend in with her UK- issued ID. My question is who walks the streets with a passport?? God forbid you lose it and you can’t get back into your country (hellooooo). We asked for the manager, and he came out with a hard to miss mustache and a matter-of-fact tone stating that there was nothing they could do… They’re going to try to respond to this comment with “it’s Florida state law.” But what they don’t say about the Florida state law is that it’s essentially up to the management of that establishment… which is why we were able to get into every other bar on the block. The funny part is, all we needed to do was use the bathroom. But I guarantee you I will NEVER visit this drab...
