Experienced a wonderful outdoor dinner at Shiso Crispy on a crisp Tampa evening! The mother-daughter team was friendly and fantastic in answering our questions about the Asian fusion menu items and their recommendations. There was no line when we arrived, so we quickly ordered and received our various dishes pretty fast. We sat in their outdoor covered dining area, which was breezy but comfortable. The gyoza were crisp with juicy filling, and topped with creamy sauces and accompanied by a soy-based dipping sauce. We then dove into their bang bang chicken and braised beef rice bowls. The bang bang chicken was deep-fried nuggets bathed in a sticky, somewhat sweet sauce, and topped with a sesame seeds, green onions, and crispy onions over sticky rice. The braised beef was fall-apart tender and had a soy-based marinade with similar toppings. The portion sizes were excellent and we left quite full. Overall, it was an outstanding experience and hope to visit them again the next time we’re in Tampa!

I had their bang bang chicken plate during the Green Bench Foeder event and I knew I had to have it again. They did not disappoint. Absolutely banging food. Typically bang bang dishes can be really overwhelming and one dimensional but not this one. Just the right amount of sauce on the chicken to provide that great flavor to the rice and the white rice balances out the strong profile of the sauce. Just when you think its done, the crispy onions gives a fantastic crunch and the right amount of saltiness to round it all out... every bite is bursting with flavor just making your taste buds yern for the next encounter! Lets not forget about the gyozas... just absolutely delicious! A must try 😍 The service was friendly and they even remember me from the event, which is a big kudos because a lot of places dont even remember their regulars let alone a quick encounter at a beer festival. Thats the kind of service everyone should deliver! Short of it, this will not be my last visit!

My partner and I made the choice on a whim to give them a visit late Sunday night after a tiring music festival, and were surprised that there weren’t any vegan restaurants open late in the city! Thank goodness I came across their information and we went right after our festival. Many people who attend are vegan and we figured there may be a bunch of orders coming in, and that’s exactly what happened, a ton of tickets hung all at once. As long as the food was delicious, we were willing to wait and offered to be put on the backburner so the employee could catch up because he was alone and we weren’t in a rush (he was still making our food too but we didn’t want him to rush ours). Mike was an incredibly kind, genuine person who made our experience significantly better. He’s the reason why I’m making this review, which I very rarely do but this is well-deserved.

The food? F** INCREDIBLE!!! We ordered the vegan bang bang chicken, vegan crab rangoons, and vegan bao buns (they ran out of jackfruit but accommodated my dietary restrictions by putting the bang bang chicken in a bao instead and I’m very grateful). My non-vegan partner agreed that the vegan rangoons were better than any real crab ones we had ever had in the past. There’s a reason why they are named Shiso Crispy, because the crunch on the wonton shell was impeccable, so light and crispy, and the flavor was the best tasting rangoon filling. The vegan bang bang chick’n texture was spot on and the serving is honestly enough for more than two people!

Top notch service and customer care, the most delicious freaking vegan food I’ve had in a hot minute. Now I just need them to set up on the east coast of FL and I can die happy. I’m glad to have a new go-to food destination on my...

So I went an hour before they closed on a Sunday night and their were still people ordering after me. Personally, yes it’s a lot of food with what I got, but the price? Like almost 20$ (bang bang chicken) for some damn street food. Should be at least 15, got me trippin. I’m not gonna buy something that’s 20$ if it’s not up to par. The dude didn’t even give me a short rib bao and the whole time until I got my food I was wondering why my bill was like 43$. I mean I didn’t even get the dumplings, but like 7$ for only 3 pieces??? Y’all got me trippin! You get a lot of chicken in the bang bang one but personally it’s just not my style to have tons of rice on the bottom with sauces you can get at the damn Asian store. Although the pictures and presentation looks amazing, it’s all about the taste, and to me it was okay. I think anyone can make this, it’s just the seasonings on top and how they presented it, that make it look like amazing. I’m cultured in food and good food, not saying this is horrible or anything so to me if you really really like especially what I got, your prob white or American and don’t know what else is out...

If you’re looking for the best food truck experience in Tampa, Shiso Crispy should be at the top of your list. From the moment you arrive, you can feel the energy and passion that Matt and Mike put into every detail of their menu. Their commitment to quality and authentic flavor truly sets them apart in the Tampa food scene.

The dumplings are out of this world – perfectly pan-fried with a crisp bite on the outside and flavorful fillings that keep you coming back for more. The bao buns are another must-try, packed with bold flavors and soft, pillowy texture. Whether you’re stopping by for lunch, dinner, or a late-night bite, you’ll always leave satisfied.

What makes Shiso Crispy stand out isn’t just the incredible food, but the hospitality. Matt and Mike treat every customer like family. They’ve built a loyal following across Tampa because they consistently deliver both top-tier food and genuine service.

If you’re searching for Tampa dumplings, bao buns, or Asian street food, Shiso Crispy is the spot. Trust me – once you try it, you’ll understand why everyone raves about Matt and Mike’s food truck.
