This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Being return guests we were promised a nice room. (it was a nice stay years ago) Upon arrival the desk clerk, who was not there when we arrived, we had to phone to reach her, and wait several minutes for her to return, red faced and out of breath, told us the room was "cozy". It was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. When we complained she said we could upgrade, for an additional cost. The hotel was already overpriced at almost $200 a night. We could barely walk around the uncomfortable bed. There was no big window, only a mirror to give the impression of a window. The two small, high up, windows looked out the backside of a garage and junk cars. We had to unplug the small frig as it made a lot of noise. Room was very dated. The hot tub was too hot and couldn't be adjusted and when we came back from the hot tub we couldn't get into our room! We tried for several minutes but the keys wouldn't work. We went to the desk (9:20pm) and the office was open but no clerk. We called her, twice. She finally picked up on the second call and she was at a concert in town. She called someone else to let us in but we waited over 25 minutes outside, in our bathing suits. Then the next morning the clerk argued that we were only locked out for 15 minutes! The promised breakfast is a brown bag with a hard granola bar and a bottle of water. There was NO coffee in the lobby, as promised. The same clerk told us we could buy some up the street because their coffee maker didn't work. And there were still remnants of coffee from the day before, used stir sticks, empty packets etc. Dirty! The clerk was incredibly rude to us. She did let us cancel our reservation for the second night. And why they dare call it a resort is a mystery to me! There are a lot of good hotels in the cute and interesting little town, stay any...
Read moreMy original hotel reservation was at the Ouray Inn. I was relocated to Rivers Edge for some unknown reason. I arrived at Rivers Edge. They have no one manning the front desk. You have to call a number that connects to the manager who then comes to the front office to give you your key. This is not a big deal but, late at night, it can be inconvenient.||||I was given a room on the second floor. The building is old and needs some repair. My first night, the beds are hard as rocks! The shower is an open molded shower stall and the shower head leaks and drips constantly. This drip, drip noise becomes very, very loud in the middle of the night, when you are trying to sleep. ||||The very next day, I contacted the manager. At 9:30 AM, I woke her up but, she said she would tell her father about the leak. Nothing happened. The next day, I asked again. This time there was another hotel worker in the conversation. This person said they had not heard from their plumber in three weeks but that they would call him. I told the manager that if she couldn't get it fixed, she should move me to another room which she made no comment - for or against.||||Nothing was done to fix the dripping shower. I talked to the manager's father - twice! First, he told me that he had someone coming to show HIM how to repair the leak. Then, he told me he couldn't get anyone to come to look at the leak.||||I feel that the owners of the River's Edge Motel do not have the experience needed to properly address the concerns of their customers. In my opinion, they should have made every effort to move me to another room. I know for a fact that there was at least one room on the first floor that was available so, any response from the owner/operator (here) indicating no available rooms...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We were greeted by a very nice man named John. He helped us get settled and was always nice to chit chat with. The place is VERY dog friendly. There were a lot of dogs running around off leash. I do think they live there. There is a dog park right behind the hotel. It was busy but best time we early early morning. The grounds are beautiful. Lush green grass right along a small river. One tip I'd give the owners was too have a doggie bag station with trash somewhere. Guest weren't always picking up after their dogs which drove me crazy.||They have two hot tubs. Firepit, out door tables/chairs. Now the stairs. Most of the stairs are metal grate. Dogs paws can get caught. I guess they are for when it snows. We were warned by John when made reservations. I figured it wouldn't be a problem because we were on the first floor. Nope. You have to go up 5-6 stairs to get to first floor. Our dogs were terrified of the stairs and we had to carry them up and down.||Now the room. Very, very outdated. Pretty clean though esp. the bathroom. The kitchen had dirty foil around the burners. Food etc from others. The cabinets' were falling apart. Baseboards chipped. Very small t.v. far from beds. No deadbolt on door. Flimsy door. Had to slam it to get it to shut.||I hate giving such a mix review. I wish I had to money to give them to update and make it better!! Would we stay there again? Absolutely. Beautiful flowers all over, good vibe. Everyone so very nice. No one bothers you. Quiet. Good Mexican restaurant next door. Walk to...
