My husband and I stayed at this hotel recently and it was the WORST hotel experience I have ever had. Firstly, I'd like to say there was a middle aged Caucasian woman who checked us in around 10pm and she was LOVELY. When we got to our room however, it smelled stale. Not only did it smell stale, but we could NOT stop sneezing the entire time we were in that room. The room was in fact clean, but definitely not the best looking. The bathroom was alright but looked outdated and old/rusted. But, appearances aren't everything and I wasn't expecting a Holiday Inn. Now, the first nights sleep was AWFUL. Our thermostat was set at 68'F and had a sign that read not to set it below 66'F as it would freeze. Okay, we didn't touch it at all. All night long, large chunks of ICE kept falling out of the AC unit and smashing against the table that was directly under it. We went about our trip and when we came back in the evening, housekeeping didn't show up at all or even remotely attempt to leave new towels at our room. My husband went and got more towels, no problem, at the front desk. He got back and we showered and went to sleep. Again, even after checking the thermostat, ice fell from the AC unit throughout the night. The day of check out, house keeping knocked on our door at 11am. I answered and explained someone was in there but she knocked again. This happened 3 times before I just went and opened the door and she said with attitude" Oh, you're still here? Check out was at 11. They are gunna charge you. You should call" and she walked away. Extremely rude and unprofessional. I called the front desk and I stated my name and the room number we were in, the receptionist said "Oh, yeah I spoke to management and you need to be out of your room by 11:30 or we are gunna charge you another night". On my itinerary from Priceline, check out was stated to be at 12pm which is pretty standard for hotels. The fact that she said this with an attitude as if I were BOTHERING her made me extremely mad. We quickly gathered our things and made it out of the room. When I got to the front desk to check out, the woman just stared at me with a nasty look until I explained what I needed. She grabbed the room cards from me and tossed them to the side of the desk. When she asked if I wanted a receipt, I said yes and she made almost like a sigh noise as if it were too much work for her to print it out for me. I will NEVER be going back, and honestly the company may not care about my review, but it was an absolutely AWFUL visit. I have told all my friends and family what has happened and they have agreed that they too will not be staying at ANY...
Read moreThe pictures are NOT what this place actually is. I don't know what kind of professional photographer/magician took these photos but I've rarely seen business pictures with such a disparity from reality. We had family come in from out of town and unfortunately we did not scout this place out before they booked it. We never would have allowed them to stay here, with children no less, had we seen it beforehand. And the confusingly expensive rates do not reflect what you'll be walking into.
Now for the why: The entire property as seen from the outside looks NOTHING like the photos. It is in fact very "run-down" and dirty. The walls are stained, with wood damage and rot abound. There are broken light fixtures in the parking lot, filthy room windows as seen from exterior, and window A/C units for the rooms seem poorly mounted, rusted, and also dirty.
Inside is not remotely better. The smell of weed throughout the hallways is only overshadowed by every inch of this building smelling musty, like a wet dog. Air circulation must be non-existent. The room doors hinges are spring loaded so they close behind you, but not strong enough to actually latch the door closed. No less than 5 doors were seen cracked and open with apparently unsuspecting guests relaxing inside. A significant number of the doors also had dry rotted wood near the bottom edges. Inside the musty smelling rooms we found multiple lamps that did not work along with cleanliness that was just barely good enough to not get them shutdown.
I personally had no interactions with staff but frankly they, especially management/owners, should be ashamed of themselves. This place is gross, unclean, falling apart, and likely dangerous considering where it is in town and nothing is being done to remedy that. It likely means they have accepted their fate as a drug hotel and will milk it for every penny without spending a penny to make it better. It also seems like they are ok with misleading guests that book in advance with photos that are an outright lie, and taking what they can get with exhausted motorists since they are right off the highway.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and drive 10 minutes east towards the river and stay in any number of hotels there. Those are the ones that cater to your visiting SpaceX and NASA personnel and travelers visiting for the Space Center or other tourist related reasons. The rates are similar but they actually care about appearances,...
Read moreOur reservation was mishandled. We were booked for a king room and accompanying pet. When we arrived they put us in a room with double beds because they don't have king rooms for pets. The room was in short, dirty. The room was damp very damp and musty. The floor was a wood grained tile. Okay, good for pets but wife and I both had on new, white socks. Walking in our sock feet quickly rendered our socks filthy! Who knows when floor was really last cleaned. The walls were terrible with shoddy repairs. No pride in their rooms at all. Even the remodeled furnishings spoke of cheapness.
The cabinet centerpiece all rooms have had a gaping whole where the refrigerator went. There was a fridge too big for the whole but it was rusty on top. Bathroom reeked of being old. Gap between tile and edge of bathtub was dirty caulking. The shower curtain had some red mildew on it showing it not being changed recently.
The rooms had only a single lamp plug to accommodate modern electronic chargers.
Also, be careful of the 24 hour cancellation policy. They apparently mean any change in reservation must occur 24 hours before you arrive. I had called to cancel our 2nd day on the day we were arriving. They tried to charge me a penalty for the second day anyway! I had been told it would be no problem to cancel the 2nd day even after we arrived. My call was more than 24 hours before the 4pm deadline on the 2nd day so I shamed the clerk into cancelling that $50 penalty. This is not customary for hotels.
The breakfast buffet was a joke by today's standards. A cheese omelet and bagels and toast and cereal was all they had. We chose the McDonalds across the street.
In general, the place reeks of being cheaply run. Maybe the non-pet rooms are okay, I've no idea. I do know that the $145 fee + $25 for pet and then taxes came to $191.51. Worst money I can ever remember spending and worst hotel I've ever been in. I don't expect complete excellence but I do expect decent accommodations for that amount of money. Do yourself a favor, bypass this...
