Overview:|This hotel is located on the Atlantic Ocean right in the middle of motel row in Montauk. It offers better amenities than surrounding hotels and I’d say is the pick of the litter for that location.||The Good:|The location is perfect, situated right in the middle of town, walking distance to everything in town. This hotel provides beach chair and umbrella service, which is about half of what you get at a top resort like Gurney’s but for the price, this is amazing and what sets it apart from the other hotels in the area. The beach chairs are really of a high quality canvass and wood construction. The beds are comfortable, they supply you with locked-in-place shampoo, shower gel, and conditioner. They also supply you with a blow dryer and hand cream. Most importantly, the floors are laminate, which cuts down on the mold that ALL the other hotels on the row are infested with. The front desk is very kind and accommodating.||The Bad:|Noise level is intolerable during the day. Like all the other hotels on the row, you get three or four large families with kids that take over the entire place. You’ll hear stupid loud parents yelling at their unruly kids all day as they run around screaming and making noise well into the night. I found one group of kids playing on my private patio. This should not be allowed and someone should really put an end to this. I can’t understand these garbage parents that let this happen. Pure TRASH! The other thing — and this really isn’t the hotel’s fault — are the bonfires that occur at night right in front of your room. Please don’t think that you will be able to have your window open to get the sea breeze at night. It smells like a toxic forest fire all night, which really ruins the natural beauty of Montauk. Thankfully these large low class families are slowly getting priced out of Montauk, and I look forward to the day that they are gone and Montauk's true potential will be realized.||What Can Be Done:|1) Put signs on the walls that say "NO RUNNING ON THE PROPERTY" also state that the quiet hours are 10PM to 10AM, and enforce this. You have enough employees roaming around the hotel that can easily enforce the rules. If you lose these families, WHO CARES, there will be plenty of people with money that will want to stay here. Montauk is changing for the good and you have a real gem of a location! Get ahead of the curve. |2) The room layout needs to be changed. The AC blows directly onto the bed. Put the AC units on the other side of the room or above the doors. |3) You need a ramp that goes up to the second floor somewhere on the property so this way people can easily carry their luggage up the stairs.|4) Pave the parking area. It is very hard to carry luggage across the pebbles. |5) Have some kind of nighttime activity on the beach that takes up the whole property to discourage those idiots from setting up their bonfire camps right in front of the hotel. There are PLENTY of campgrounds for them to go to like HITHER HILLS to do this activity. Maybe like a dusk mixer with games and whatnot. There's a lot of single people like me who would love to meet the other female guests ;-). It seems that the other "cool" hotels are now doing things like this, except they are not on the the beach like...
Read moreThis hotel has an excellent location, right by the beach. Also they had clean towels and blanquets. The room was also clean. This is it!
The rooms interior show years of decay with cracks on the walls and dents on the door. Furniture is falling apart. The desk and drawers had to be leveled with pieces of toilet paper.
However, this is not the main problem: The treatment that my son, my wife, and I received from the hotel manager Ms. Tracy was terrible, rude, and offensive. .
Also they are much disorganized at the front desk/reservations.
When we checked in on Monday September 7, 2015. The reception ladies were kind of rude, but my son had patience because it was the day after Labor Day, it must've been really busy. 30 minutes pass and then while waiting there, they told my son that there were no rooms available because they were still cleaning. Then, a white couple come in, and sure enough, they're given a room right then and there. The ladies at the front noticed his dismay, and then they said that they were "upgrading" us to a king size room. They give him the keys of room 481. My son went here with our luggage, and my wife and I in toe (behind him), open the door, and my son saw a passed out, naked lady in the room with all sorts of condoms and liquor bottles on the floor. Immediately, my son told us not to come in, that there is someone in there. My son went back to the front desk immediately and they gave him another room that magically presented itself.
We brought our things and finally have some time to get much needed relaxation. The next day my son left for work back to NYC. My wife and I wanted to book another night and that's when the crazy happened.
Essentially, as soon as they found out that we were Latinos, they treated us very distrustfully refusing to grant the Expedia confirmed reservations.
Ms. Tracy, the Hotel Manager threw us from the Hotel. She shout at me at the front desk when I was trying to get to stay in the same room because I did not want to move my luggage.
She did not consider that my wife and I are Senior USA Citizens. To close her act, Ms. Tracy came to our room to personally evict us from the room while were talking to Expedia customer service representative. threaten us with calling on the police. She previously had done the same to me in the front desk.
A very upsetting...
Read moreWe had a nice stay at the Montauk Blue. We certainly enjoyed the convenience of being a few steps away from the ocean, and a short walk from all the restaurants in town. However, we want to address a few things that could have been better for future guests considering staying here.
Upon arriving in our hotel room, we opened up the curtains to get a good look at our ocean view. We quickly noticed that our “private deck” as mentioned in the room description was not so private. Other hotels guests were laying out/running around the deck right outside our door, and one family had brought their children with them. We certainly love kids and had no issue with them, but the hotel description stated that the hotel was for 25 and older. We were just surprised because we were expecting an adults only stay.
Our hotel room wasn’t lit well either. We depended on the natural light to see what we were doing which meant leaving the curtains open all day. Not a private experience with guests constantly walking past our room.
Our bathroom sink and shower didn’t drain well. The water came up to my ankles every time I took a shower. I couldn’t stand the sight of the rising water in the sink while brushing my teeth. It took several minutes for it to finally go down. We addressed this at the end of our stay, but they didn’t seem too concerned. Our shower also leaked water all over the floor even with the door fully shut. It was an okay stay if you can get past those issues, but maybe there is a hotel in town with better...
