Location is great, walking distance to town and right on the beach. We went for a few days after Labor Day and it felt like we were the only ones on the beach. That was wonderful. The hotel accommodated early check-in which we also appreciate. However, I do not recommend staying here. The number one reason is the bed. It was SO uncomfortable. It quite honestly felt like a cardboard box with springs in the middle. It sat on wheels and was extremely flimsy. My husband opted to sleep separately on the futon because the bed was THAT uncomfortable. The room was very dated with old decor and chipped paint throughout. The bathroom exhaust fan seemed like it was exposed/missing the cover. You could see right inside and was excessively loud. Again, very dated. We have stayed at multiple places over the years in Montauk and we were very disappointed with our stay especially considering the price tag. It has all the potential with some upgrades, but this one missed the mark.

Had such a wonderful time staying at this hotel! The rooms are small but the ocean view was well worth it. Pool was heated and opened from 10-6. Location is also great for dining and shopping. Everything is within 10 minute walk. Definitely recommend checking out 668, Tauk, Goldberg Bagels, Pink Frog

I booked this because there was nothing else available on the beach. However, I got a place on the beach and it is fantastic. The room is a little small but the location to everything in town plus the view of the water from your personal balcony is amazing. I will definitely be back!

The amenities are excellent. All rooms are ocean view. There are beachfront rooms as well, where your private balcony actually directly overlooks the dunes. The pool is heated and sizeable and well-maintained. Surrounding the pool are lounge chairs and umbrellas which line the deck rail overlooking the dunes and beach, perfect for people-viewing, relaxing with your 'beverage', or watching the ocean waves. If you choose, there are also barbeque grills for guest use. The hotel offers direct walkways to the beach with complimentary beach umbrellas at your request. You might consider an upper level room which offers a more panoramic view. The lower level rooms are absolutely fine but the views of the ocean may be somewhat obstructed by the pool and deck railings. Also, the lower, main floor rooms do not have fenced terrace space- there is an outdoor, partitioned seating area per room but it opens right on the deck walkway. The ocean views are spectacular. Being that the hotel is located at the end of the strip of beach hotels, you don't get the busy beach crowd and, consider also that, conveniently, the IGA supermarket is an easy 5-10 minute walk. Take the back street! Alternatively, the walk into town is just as short and accessible. Parking is limited, as you are informed, but certainly sufficient if there is one car per room. Once you are parked at the hotel, there is no need to use your car for anything while there. Our manager, Karen was extremely attentive to her guests. On her initiative, Karen upgraded our room to a beachfront unit because she did not want us to be bothered by the paint smell from maintenance work being done close to our original room. The complimentary upgrade was for our 'inconvenience' in having to move from our room. (Inconvenience me anytime!!) Highly recommend Room #23. It's probably the nicest accommodation in the hotel. Karen also delivered our beach umbrellas right to our room. We felt pampered there and thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at the Ocean...

We were COVID weary and in much need of a break. We booked our room at Ocean Surf Resort at the last minute. Most other places were booked, as the weekend was promising summer weather in October. The weather did turn out to be gorgeous, and we enjoyed, but not because of the accomodations. The cancellation fees are very transparent, but wow, it sends a message up front about strictness. We arrived to a beautiful deck as close to the beach as you will ever get for the price. That said, the amenities are just not up to the prices being charged. Our room was a "gold room with ocean view." You are paying for the view only. The room had 2 beds. 1 bed had actual holes in the mattress, like someone or something had chewed large holes. The other mattress was so hard it was like there was a 6 inch thick board underneath some light cushioning. I chose the hard bed. I woke every morning with sore shoulder and joints. The patio had a badly rusting lounge chair - the aesthetics were not pleasing, and there were an additional 2 cheap plastic patio chairs to sit in. I can get these at Walmart at the end of the season for $5. The bathroom and the kitchenette are quite dated, and in sore need of an uplift. The towels are threadbare and scratchy. The showerhead looks like it was installed in 1975, and I initially thought it did not work, as only a trickle of water came out, My husband found a button that turned water on, but the shower was not a true shower experience. It was more like showring under a hose let loose. We would stay again if we could not find another place, but paying close to $1,000 for 2 nights in a old motel just does not sit right. I will focus on the view, and the fact that we had a wonderful session of whale watching...
