For the price (almost $400 a night with fees), Scotty’s was not worth the price. For $200 a night maybe. First the negative. The young lady at check in barely looked up at us and did not greet us with any kind of friendly gestures. She simply took our credit card so she could charge us for our full stay. She handed us a couple of pieces of paper and said your room is on the left. Scotty’s sits up high like a lot of resorts in the area and the property runs down to the lake. There are two long buildings with lots of rooms and a driveway in the middle that runs from the top of the hill right to the bottom and ends at the swimming pool. A dangerous design if a car’s brakes ever fail coming down the hill. So there are cars and a lot of diesel monster trucks chugging up and down the hill all day. Quite dangerous with all the small kids around. Our room was closer to the top of the complex. Parking for these rooms was hysterical and dangerous, especially if you’re in your 70’s. You pull into your space at an angle and on a tilt. So if you can picture this, you have to either deal with a drivers side door that wants to slam shut and cut off your leg as soon as you sit it the car if you’re not careful. On the other hand the passenger side doors fly open when you enter and you have to reach out and extend your arm as much as you can and pull as hard as you can uphill to close the door.
First impressions of our room as we entered was that it has not had an extensive make over as the owners claim. While the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the rug looked like it might be fairly new and it was clean. The wall were recently painted as I could tell by the fresh paint on our bedside lamp. Tv was large and offered a lot of channels with a good picture. Plenty of dresser space, an open coat rack and a very cold refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine. The bathroom was moderately sized, with amenities that you had to mountain climb back up the hill to the office to get your own. And if you want to blow your nose bring some Kleenex, as none are supplied. Room service was ok, nothing spectacular. On that note there are no “Do Not Disturb” signs in the rooms, “Honeymooners you’ve been warned”😂 From our rooms it was a good hike down and up hill to get coffee, food drinks, etc. There is a nice breakfast, lunch room and a nice bar & lounge. Drink specials were very good and the staff in the dining area and bar were all extremely friendly ( unlike our check in lady). Prices were pretty good. There are several options for lake activities ( paddle boats, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. Bring your wallet though as your almost $400 a night doesn’t include the use of them. There is a small beach and a medium sized pool for such a large resort.
Also beware “Quiet Time” is 11:00 pm til 7 am. I be never stayed anywhere where it was that late and I’m surprised seeing there are so many small children on the premises. Every room as a little porch area and that is a nice touch to sit on and relax in the morning or evening. There was no shortage of kids slamming doors all day and night and check out is early(10am).
If you’re new to the area you can find a lot of more resorts that are lakeside but don’t have such a steep straight runway to the lake. I’ve stayed at some others that have configured their property so it’s broken up with gradual grades down to the lake. On a closing positive note, Scotty’s is a great location to watch the Thursday night fireworks and it is conveniently located very close to the village.
There were lots of things to like about Scotty’s but there were just as many things...
Read moreMy first time in Lake George, SUCKED!!!!!!!” I loved the location, view, the staff at the bar and grill on site. The beach was great and the whole landscape was amazing. I great view of the lake. I loved having a food place on site that was opened from breakfast to dinner so u could stay relaxing at the resort. However we had a 12 check in, however when we arrived they told us we couldn't have the room till 3. we called to asked to bring a service animal right after making the reservation online and the girl in the office told us no animals were allowed. we saw 2 dogs in our 3 night stay... we also had a tree fall on our car while parked at the resort and no one from management even bothered to contact us.the smoke alarm ran out of batteries and chirped all night and the repair man changed it 4x before deciding to not put one back untill he could rewire it once we left!! The bathrooms are Gross ans the shower to is either scolding hot or iced cold. All of this happend on our trip that was from Sunday to Wednesday. We tried to speak to the blone female manager who said they have done nothing wrong as she handed us free paddle board or kayak passeso. My cousin who was with us was disabled, and that is all she would offer. During check out, I returned the passes to the staff at the register and she offered 50 dollars in return toward our stay but that was all she could do, while the manager hid in the back behind a door unwilling to do anything.alot of there staff was amazing, but the management or owners need some shaping up. my first time in Lake George and I chose Scottys. and all this happend to us in 3 days after speading 650 just on the room. becareful staying here, don't park near trees, don't come before 330 if ur checking in, because they don't allow u to use facilities if ur early. if ur disabled make sure ur not in any rooms 1-10 since they are on a steep slope and getting in and out of the car is next to impossible. the beach is beautiful but don't go in the water barefoot it's slushy, full of...
Read moreI actually deleted my very first review to leave this one. I’ve been coming here for 7 years. The changes and upgrades they have done over the years are fantastic, it’s not too much where it takes away from the cozy feeling but does keep it fresh. It’s definitely not the same over the years. To start, the rooms aren’t clean. The mirrors are filthy. Forget the dirty streak marks, how about the liquid splats.. since there isn’t cleaning service bc they’re still on Covid rules, I asked for windex, it was so gross, I was willing to clean it myself. They wouldn’t provide windex. The staff; rude. What happened to all the polite people here? I called asking a simple check-in question and she clearly couldn’t be bothered. Check in- she was OK. The kids in the golf carts, speeding down the hill and laugh? It’s not funny. I paid $420 a night, before fees and taxes for what? Remember when you’d leave for the day and come back to a clean room? Yeah.. me too. I laugh at the tip envelope; for what? The snack/game room place is closed wen the sun goes down. Why? Makes no sense. The kids are in the water all day, wen the sun goes down, let them play for an hour or two, close at 9-9:30 and keep the bar area open for an hour also. Makes zero sense. They don’t enforce pool requirements, why did I loose chairs/space to people that aren’t from Scotty’s? Just bc their family stayed at Scotty’s, doesn’t mean that the whole family from another hotel should be able to use an area i over paid for. Ridiculous. The other places around here offer more for less money. If I’m going to wake up and have to PURCHASE coffee and a muffin, the staff behind the counter can at least be pleasant. Others have simple breakfast included. To pay these rates for rude kids, come on. These kids have no idea what life is about and have no reason to be miserable and rude. Life didn’t screw you yet, trust me. To be clear; I am NOT one of those miserable Karen’s that complain about everything. I’m actually very low key but this really disappointed...
