Do not waste your money here, these people are so rude and unhelpful. I was charged for a STOLEN life jacket.. I was told by the receptionist the front desk “I have to give them to you, but you don’t have to use them”.. so my partner & I left our life jackets with our shoes/towels and went out paddle boarding- Only to get stopped by marine patrol & told that we can’t be out on the water without the life jackets. So we cut our hour short to paddle back and get them & found that one was missing.
The front desk staff refused to give me back my ID unless I brought back the life vest or paid for it & they weren’t even clear on the cost. They were not understanding at all and didn’t even try to review the cameras overlooking the lake area. It’s not about the money but the principle - why am I being charged for a life jacket that was stolen & no one would even attempt to review the cameras, also this was nowhere in their policy.. and if the receptionist said we must wear the life jackets we absolutely would have but she made it sound like it was optional.
Fast forward to the next day, I told the receptionist we were interested in renting the double kayak but didn’t want to start the hour timer just yet, just needed to use two life jackets as we were going on a friends boat. She wouldn’t give us the life jackets until I paid for kayaking - so I paid 30$ and didn’t take the ore; we agreed I would come back later on for the ore & take the kayak out and the hour rental would start at that time.
In the meantime it started raining, I dropped my phone in the lake and since we didn’t end up using the life jackets or going out I completely forgot about them; only to notice a bunch of missed calls and voicemails essentially harassing us for the life jackets and stating they will charge us per hour that they were not returned. I was under the impression that since it was raining I doubt other guests were waiting for us to return life jackets to go out in the storm.. why would they have called so many times as if were not going to check out tomorrow.. Also I didn’t even notice the calls or voicemails until this morning..
So this morning I speak with Paul from the front desk who was blatantly rude.. He was also the same person who was banging on our door about the first life jacket incident. Also the same person who called to harass us about the life jackets and leave voicemails.. He said if it were up to him he would have charged us by the hour - for each hour we had the life jackets .. but his manager decided not to do this. By the way WE PAID 30$ and NEVER got to go kayaking - he REFUSED to let us go this morning before check out & stated “I don’t think I should let you go because of what we went through yesterday”. Supposedly the manager “Magik” was very angry with him and made his life/job miserable so he was taking it out on us.. He made the life jackets such a huge deal & I was absolutely disgusted. At this point I didn’t even have energy to speak with the manager and wanted to check out and leave.
He made our initially pleasant stay a nightmare. I would not recommend this hotel. And after spending over 1,000$ on an outdated room with dirty carpets, no water to shower - with NO ROOM SERVICE by the way.. you would think they’d be a little more understanding or accommodating. 0/10 and the lake area has like 5 chairs. I would recommend Scotty’s Resort or the Georgian - STAY AWAY...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Lake Crest Inn, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish.
Before my arrival, I reached out to the Inn to inform them of my late check-in. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate me, reassuring me that my room key would be available at a designated location, allowing me to check in at the front desk the following morning. Their kind reassurance truly put me at ease.
Upon my arrival, I found the key exactly where I was instructed, and the room itself was impeccably clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable sanctuary after a long day of driving. I greatly appreciated the attention to detail, from the fresh linens to the well-stocked amenities.
One of the standout features of the Lake Crest Inn is its fantastic location. Nestled in the heart of Lake George with private lake access, I was able to easily walk to many local attractions, restaurants, and shops, avoiding the hassle of traffic and parking during the busy holiday weekend.
Lastly, I cannot praise the friendly and honest staff enough. During my stay, I misplaced one of my two room keys. Upon checkout, I informed the woman at the front desk, who explained that I would be charged for a replacement if the key was not found. However, a day later, I received an email notifying me that the key had been found by another hotel and returned to the Inn, so I would not incur any charges. Such integrity is a rare find these days, and it was a most pleasant surprise.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Lake Crest Inn to anyone seeking a comfortable stay with exceptional and honest service. I look forward to...
Read moreThe location was great and the some of the staff was very friendly (especially housekeeping). I would have appreciated some honesty and clarity however. The website clearly states that kayaking and rowboat are complimentary (which means FREE) to guest. However when you get there, you have to pay $10 per hour. I guess they figure why not nickel and dime tourist on the busiest weekend of the year (4th of July). I was upset, because I actually booked this hotel in part for that amenity. Since I promised my kids, I paid. During our trip we tipped over in the lake and had to be rescued by other visitors which caused us to be 15 min late.... can you believe that they actually charged us an extra half hour and held my ID as ransom until I paid?? I wonder what they would have charged me had I actually drowned?? I also forgot to mention that upon our near death experience, we lost a paddle for which I was charged for. The paddle was found and returned the next day. The only thing not returned was the $60 I was charged. Ruth (a front desk staff member) really needs to be trained in customer service and not be so nasty. There is never a manager available for the guests, only the staff can call her and speak to this person that seems to have all the answers, because any time you ask a question, no one knows and they need to call "Pauline" who is the ghost manager of this place. My kids enjoyed the town so we are making this an annual affair, however I will not be staying here again! I will be giving my hard earned $700+ to someone who knows how a customer should be treated....
