A weekend getaway brought us to John's Pass Beach Motel, chosen for it's central location and proximity to the activities we planned. A hop-skip and a jump from tons of places on the beach route. It has a heated pool for the brave in chilly weather, access to the beach, wallet friendly rates and a bevy of patio areas to hang out in.
I booked and paid in advance so check-in at 2pm, although an hour early, was quick and easy. We were offered an upgrade since it's slow this time of year. Our room had 1 bed but you can request 2 if needed. Parking surrounds the place so it was close and convenient. The debris from the storm months ago was all cleaned up at this location. Many others did not fare so well.
The room had a closet cabinet to hang clothes, a small table for 2, a small tv, one a queen size bed, a ceiling fan, a kitchen counter with 2 burners, a few kitchen items, a fridge, a pleather futon, remote control heater and a small bathroom with a narrow shower. Soap was the size of a stick of gum so I had to wash with shampoo. It was all very clean looking inside and out around the property. It was likely recently painted as I saw no water marks on the structure.
While a bit small and frugally decorated, it was cozy and clean. I would prefer 2 beds next time. Heater temp would only go as high ad 72 degrees but it was adequate. The lady at the front desk was pleasant and accomodating. You could request extra pillows, blankets and towels as needed. Towel exchange happens in a basket outside the room door so as not to disturb you.
All in all, we were content with our choice of motel and our experience. We will return given the opportunity. Next time in the summer. A short walk to the beach for...
Read moreI could go on and on about this place! My boyfriend and I decided to book this trip last minute and we were scrambling for a place to stay. I came across Johns Pass Beach Motel on the Booking app, as we were wanting to stay on the beachfront and in a fairly average price range. We had to get a later flight coming into Treasure Island and so I messaged the motel on the Booking app and within a couple of hours I received a response and they stated late check in is just fine we just need to let them know day of that we will be doing late check in and so I did just that. Once again, they were quick with response. We were a little nervous about doing late check in, especially with a smaller motel but it all worked out perfectly. More than perfect. We told the motel we would be arriving around 2 AM (our late check in time after the flight) They told us that the door would just stay unlocked and keys would be right inside the door on a countertop and we would just check in at the front desk in the morning. All of that went extremely smoothly. Rose is who we spoke to most at the front desk and checked us in and also checked us out and she is such a wonderful, kind, genuine human. I don’t know if it’s Rose we are reviewing or if it’s Johns Pass Beach Motel but both were outstanding in our books. Such a cute little place right on the beachfront with such character and personality. Everything is tropical feeling and cheery. Also, felt completely safe. Rose was accommodating from the time we checked in until the time we checked out. Extremely pleasant stay and we will be back and in the meantime, we will also recommend Johns Pass Beach Motel to anyone coming down to...
Read moreThis is a small basic motel that is clean, quiet and reasonably priced for being directly on the water. While many rooms do not have direct water view, the water is just over the dune and no need to cross the busy four lanes of traffic. The beach is beautiful. Their pool is clean although a little too warm for my taste. No chairs or towels are provided. Parking for one car. Washing machine and dryer available. Lots of seating and lounges by the pool. There is also a grill you can use. The 2 bedroom apartment is great if travelling with a friend as the bedroom is separate from the living room and kitchenette, closed off with a door for privacy and quiet. I recommend room # 18 on the second floor and at the very end with slight views of the ocean from a window and easy access to stairs. Room # 17 also in a good spot. There is a canopy walkway so one can sit out even in rain. The bathroom is dated but clean. There are limited toiletries provided so plan to bring some of your own personal items. There are some dishes but not enough for a family. There was a TV in the living room and one in the bedroom. Easy walk over the bridge into Johns Pass and lots of restaurants and shops. A Publix grocery store is not too far down the road as well. I would certainly consider...
