Mermaid Cottage — Hotel in Tybee Island

I would give a "zero" rating if possible. My experience with the cottage we rented for 10 days on Tybee Island was utterly unacceptable. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a filthy and foul-smelling house. We contacted Tammy to report the condition and requested a waiver or reduction of the cleaning fee. Her response offered no apology and insisting on the full payment.

I choose not to disclose the specific property, recognizing that many families, including the elderly, rely on Mermaid Cottages for responsible property management. While the property itself had potential, it's clear that it suffers from severe neglect under Mermaid's management. I refrain from blaming the homeowners directly, as they may be unaware of the poor state of their property.

It is reprehensible for a business to exploit its customers by demanding a full cleaning fee for a service clearly not rendered and to jeopardize their clients' properties through such gross mismanagement. I have stayed with Mermaid Cottages several times. The service they provide is top notch. This trip I stayed at Fun in the Sun for a month. (My second time at this cottage) I can always count on the mermaids to take care of things. Tammy and Diane checked in on me and answered any questions I had. They really are the sweetest people. I did have an ice maker problem and they had it handled immediately. The guy who fixed it was very nice also. I can not imagine renting from anyone else. The house was clean, comfortable and allowed me to have my two little yorkies there also. Thanks to the mermaids, I had no worries and an incredible time. My family and I just spent at wonderful week at the Mermaid Cottages. We had a nicely appointed apartment with plenty of room for 6 family members. Great walking proximity to the beach, pier, shops, and many eateries (e.g., one block from the justly famous Breakfast Club). Perhaps best of all was the attentive help we received from Mermaid Cottages guest services. An unexpected parking issue arose for us mid-week and they went above & beyond to provide a solution.
