It was horrible. The place is right in the heart of Vail and let me tell you if you plan on staying somewhere in Vail for festivals or goings on this is the last place you want to be. My beautiful wife wanted to make this a special celebration for my birthday. My 1st birthday celebration after having only been married a month and a half. But not having experience w where to stay in Vail, and having always eaten at the attached restaurant with her family she thought the hotel looked so quaint and somewhat old country and beautiful. Where that all ended was when we walked in. 1st off there was no driving to it. Google maps was worthless. So we called the hotel and asked. She directed us to park in the city parking garage, which was completely packed. Once we did that we had to walk a couple blocks through the throngs of people to the hotel. We didn’t take our bags. Once we got to the desk the very nice lady at the front desk directed us to walk back through the throngs to our car and drive a half mile back around the hotel to then meet the baggage person a block away from the hotel in the sectioned off festival area to take our bags. We then had to drive back to the parking garage find another parking spot and walk back through the throngs to the hotel. When we get there the poor nice lady at the front desk was out helping other tenants and so we waited, only to find out none of the rooms had air conditioning. This was after a hot day almost 90 degrees on the eagle vail course. She explains that we’d have to wait 4 hours for the sun to go down and that it would be great at night but that we’d have to open the sliding door and prop up a fan against it to get some coolness. Walking through the hotel it smelled horrible. You could tell the carpets hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The room was unbelievably small and cramped. Brought new meaning to studio! The room was sweltering and old. I dont remember seeing any closet and very little storage. The sliding door was open and the speakers from the festival were blaring right into our room. And given the bed was old and dilapidated with a funky mattress we knew there wasn’t going to be much sleeping for the 2 nights the owner so graciously ripped us off for 250/night. We asked the front desk lady for our money back, but she said she’d run it past the owner or manager and she would get back with us. We knew it would be a complete horror story staying there and so we shlepped our luggage back through the throngs to our car in the garage and had to head out of town for another room. We found one in Dillon later that night. The lady called us that night at almost 10 pm when we were already in bed and told us we weren’t getting a cent back. This place may look quaint and romantic but believe me the only memories you make here will be...
Read moreWARNING! Don't book this hotel, if they are still under construction!!! When we arrived thats when we found out. We were NOT told when we booked directly with Sheika that they were under construction, therefore we couldnt enioy this Hotel at its best. We were told in numerous "rude" ways " NO" that we couldn't enjoy the Hotels Amenities .Example: we wanted to have a beer on the front deck and when we asked to be seated the Host told us NO you can not be seated until 3:00pm. We were stunned. So when I asked the front desk about it she said she would take care of it. About 30 minutes later she found us and said they will seat you now. So after finally getting to sit down at Pepis deck, Kira stopped at our table and said "pretend you are looking at the menu, and you do realize if we needed this table to serve lunch we couldnt seat you" WE were appalled afterall we were guests at the Hotel. WE just wanted to order a damn beer at the Hotel. Everytime you wanted to go to the deck you had to go outside and walk around to the front. Even if it was for a cup of coffee. While trying to enjoy the outside deck. and if you need to use the restroom the staff would dierct you to the skiing lockerroom bathroom which you have to walk around the side of the Hotel and down the stairs and found it was full of Public people using it. These were not guests of the hotel, which was frieghtening, This was NOT a public restroom. Many of the staff told us to go to other places to drink and eat because it was more convienant for guests. Pepi (the Owner) has said he wanted guests to experience people watching, partying, eating, drinking, and enjoying his Hotel because afterall you are on vacation. (Paraphasing his words from his bio)This Hotel TOOK our decisions away from us by not telling us they were under constuction when we booked our room. VERY inconvenient to stay here. We were unable to see the Hotel at its best. Nor did they see us at our best. For that reason they only...
Read moreif you are looking for a comfortable place to stay after skiing or snowboarding on the mountain all day, DO NOT STAY HERE!. The beds are the most horrible beds I have ever slept on in my life!! My dogs bed sleep better than their mattresses. The owner and the main front desk lady Barbara are extremely rude, they do not know the meaning of customer service. We stayed there for spring break and spent an astronomical amount of money. We rented two rooms that each had the capacity of six people. My sister came in on the second day and I was literally berated by the owner and the front desk lady because they thought we had too many people in the room, which we still did not max out at only five people in one and 3 in the other. The front desk lady literally followed me up the stairs to question me because we were taking my sister’s luggage and cooler upstairs. She treated me like a trespasser not a paying customer. The carpet was disgusting. The mattresses are horrible and the rooms are extremely hot. I would be able to set aside these things if there was any type of customer service, but these people literally seem to go out of their way to be rude to their customers. The location is good because you can ski in and out easily, but trying to get your luggage in and out with a car is very difficult.. The day of our checkout, the maids banged on our door at 8:30 in the morning for housekeeping. We were trying to get a little extra sleep before we had to check out at 11, but they seemed pretty antsy to come in and clean our room before our checkout time. The hot wings at the restaurant was probably the best thing about this place. If you want a nice mattress to rest on and customer service making you feel welcome I would try a...
