Christiania Lodge at Vail — Hotel in Vail

The team at the Christiania was incredible. From the moment I checked in, they were helpful and incredibly informative. My room had a few issues that I tried to manage for two nights—specifically, the shower head was malfunctioning and spraying water everywhere except where it should, and the mattress was extremely bowed. I called the front desk, and within 30 minutes, someone arrived to replace the shower head, and a new mattress was delivered, I was truly shocked but grateful.

The Christiania is an older, but super comfortable and charmingly quaint hotel and the location is perfect. I took a bit of a risk booking a smaller spot in Vail for a seven-day stay, but it turned out to be the best decision. I had a great view of the runs off of 3, 4, and 11—which was ideal for planning my day on the mountain.

The location couldn’t have been better, and the pool—transformed into a massive hot tub in winter—was absolutely epic.

I took this trip because I desperately needed a vacation just for myself. My priorities were: 1) location, 2) convenience, and 3) comfort—and this hotel checked all the boxes. Don welcomed us Upon our arrival to the Christiana. He even helped us with our bags with a smile. He then told us all ol about the family history of the hotel and how it meant everything to the family to treat guests with warmth and respect. Don went out of his way to share favorite place nearby and to even talk about pro football with our group. He was awesome but the rooms were also awesome with one having a nice view of the creek and mountain with patio and chairs! The pool was large and was heated and the jets were fantastic after skiing for sore muscles. A sauna was great as well. We then met Debbie at the front desk a few days later who was absolutely lovely. She accommodated our requests and went out of her way to help us with checkout. You can tell that this place values family and kindness. I will bring my family here for years to come. I walked to Gondola one to ski and it literally took me 3 minutes. Apparently "off-season" or anytime other than ski season means it's time for construction.||I want to preface this by saying everyone was super friendly...||However, we ran into some unfortunate circumstances while we were there.||1) Our deck was in the process of being re-stained. We checked in around 4pm and a worker was still out on our deck until close to 6pm.||2) Construction work started about 6am both mornings we were there. We're not LATE night people by any means, but being woken up by bucket lifters beeping non-stop starting at 6a wasn't very relaxing.||3) Apparently the Town of Vail also doesn't care about sleep either. The street sweeper went by right around 6:30a as well.||||It was unfortunate as we were looking forward to staying there, but maybe had some misconceptions about if it would be an enjoyable and relaxing time spent.||Location is great, service was ... good...
