This really bothers me to write something negative about someone and their establishment, but our experience warrants some type of response. It started with trying to get a reservation; they said we could have one time, we agreed, then later they told us we needed to come in earlier—somewhat annoying but fine. When we arrived, the place was empty. They brought us immediately to the left and sat us right next to the entrance; every table in the area we were sat at was empty. So, we asked to sit at one of the many similar sized tables away from the entrance—we really didn’t want to sit at, by most standards, the worst table in the restaurant, when the entire place was empty and available. However, they told us we were fortunate to get that table and refused to let us sit anywhere else. We asked if certain tables were booked, and they said no but this is how it works. Here’s the only saving grace; our waiter was very polite, and the food was alright, expensive, but quality food—nothing fantastic. And that’s where the praise stops. We asked if we could just have a word with the manager. He comes over, and as we voice what happened—at this restaurant we’re paying an exorbitant sum for—he seems glazed over and seems to be reading off a script about how they circle tables or something ridiculous. By any means, it’s incredibly insulting; we received no apology and no real level of consideration. We were trying to be civil, and this man couldn’t care less as he casually mumbled out the laziest, cheapest excuse before walking away. The final insult was all the 4 person tables we were trying to sit at remained empty by the time we’d fully eaten, paid, and left—and we ate for nearly an hour and a half. I don’t know if it was that we didn’t look right or speak appropriately, but the way we were treated honestly felt disgusting, and it’s sad that this type of establishment exists in this day and age. I hope that they can make some changes because it’s sad that something like this exists. I can’t...
Read moreWent for my birthday. It started out well, staff was attentive and friendly. My friend had asked upon arrival for a small celebratory dessert to be brought out at the end to surprise me. Things started going downhill once the food arrived. First, our appetizer was incorrect, but no efforts were made to replace it. We got what we got apparently. We had ordered the shrimp cocktail and ended up with the sashimi. That being said it was the best part of the meal taste wise for me . The food was brought out so quickly we didn’t have time to finish, before our salads were served along WITH our entrees. Instead of spacing the timing of the cocktails, appetizers, salads and entrees everything just came out on top of each other. Also the entrees just came out so fast! Was pre prepared? Just waiting under hot lamps till someone chose ordered that item? Bc that’s exactly what I had thought. How did they have time to cook that, highly suspect. We were definitely feeling rushed. The food was a straight mid. Not terrible, but not knock my socks off either. I got the duck which is my favorite treat yourself meal. It was cooked well but the flavor just wasn’t really there and it wasn’t properly butchered as there was quite a bit of fat still attached. The potatoes were very very dry, overcooked (hot lamps?). Again, we were feeling rushed although there were plenty of tables available and open for new patrons. Our waiter kept coming to take our food before my friend was done with her meal. Several times. I indicated that my plates could be taken, but they weren’t. We we’re hurriedly given dessert menus, but at that point we just felt that we’re done. I didn’t want to linger as the whole thing was just felt so rushed and we couldn’t just sit and chat and enjoy the meal. We were hoping for a high end dining experience that we could take our time enjoying each other and the meal. That is not what happened. My celebration dessert was never brought out and that disappointed my friend whom had...
Read moreWell, this place sadly is not what it used to be. I’ve been coming to La Tour for 20 + years and it slipped and fell. I just went for my birthday dinner, and I was so disappointed. It has been my place for special occasions for years. Do I need to come weekly to get good service? Fortunately, my waiter, Nicola, was professional and redeemed himself after the mixup of whose section it was in beginning.. After 15 min, I got up to grab a waiter. The table next to me was already served cocktails, and they sat down after I did. Anyhow, food was good not great. It used to be. Just really not memorable and smaller portions, higher prices. Maybe it’s COVID’s fault. Idk. The hostess also told me the other room was closed when she seated me at the worst table in the house, and asked me if I wanted a different table but had no other options to offer- I asked about the other room and she said “ no that’s closed.” Already, I was skeptical because she asked immediately when we checked in at the entrance, if we wanted to see wine list. I replied, yes, but not until we sit down. This is typically when one reviews menu and wine list. Maybe it was her first day. So later, mid meal the other hostess (they need 2 to do the job of one?) came and asked if I wanted to switch, after I saw they seated ppl in the “closed room”. A little late. She says manager was coming to talk but he/she never did. How very sad for this place and the owners- Lourdes used to be so involved - I imagine she’s not anymore because this could never happen otherwise. You know, they ask when you make the res if it’s a special occasion and it was my birthday. Nothing was ever mentioned about this. Why bother asking that question if you really don’t care? Such a shame. Vail going to pieces. Would I go back? It would be tough. Again, waiter was very nice and tried hard. Food was acceptable but not stellar which I expect from La...
