I was on my way to Philly from Dover DE to get food from one of my favorite Jamaican restaurants. When I got on the I95 the traffic was so bad, it made me change my mind from taking the drive to Philly. I was in the Wilmington area and decided to google Jamaican restaurants in the area and came across Hummingbird Island Cuisineā¦let me tell you it was the best decision I made not to go to Philly. The atmosphere was great, nice and clean environment with an open concept kitchen.
The food was top tier. I placed orders for 3 different meals, chicken foot soup and some fried wings.
I got jerk pork with rice and peas and plantains, jerk chicken with white rice and plantains, and for myself I got jerk chicken with rice and peas and cabbage, the soup and I split the wings.
Lemme start off by saying when I got into my car, I decided to try the soup. Chicken foot soup is one of my favorite soups and this one was on point. Nice and flavorful!
The jerk chicken was cooked to perfection, the rice and peas were really really good, it had the perfect texture and perfect flavor coordination. I also tried some of the jerk pork which was really, had a really nice smoke to it and cooked to perfection. The fried plantains were also very very good, fried to perfection and had the perfect bite to it.
I am originally from NY and relocated to Delaware and this is the best Jamaican food Iāve had in DelawarešÆ.
I definitely recommend this place and give them a 10/10. I will definitely be going back, it will definitely save me the lil extra drive going to...

Never heard of this place till today, ordered food, for me...and my other two co workers ordered for them selves as well. (don't know what they ordered, i was just the person with the car to pick it up...) I work in new castle and had to travel to wilmington to get the food... im the only one with a car to pick it up. Moments after our order was placed I got an emergency phone call, and had to run out of work , never took lunch or nothing. Called this place back and asked for a refund and explained the situation, (my daughter went to the hospital ...see the pics below) I was talked to very nasty. I was told I had to eat that... I pray no one endure what I went through with these people. Yall can enjoy good food , but the service.... especially to a customer that never serviced this place before. I pray that $70 take hummingbirds very far ... as the Lord is a see all know all God... he go repay this business back in full. I hope they never have to go through what they put me through. I ate hospital graham crackers for lunch. (See pics) The world is a money hungry cash snatching place. What goes around comes back around. Times is very hard... and money don't grow on trees and to be out of $70 and no food... it sucks... and the sad part is.... you can not control an...

I canāt say enough good things about Hummingbirds Island Cuisine! Every bite was a flavorful trip to the Caribbean, comforting, authentic, and absolutely delicious.
I ordered a few different dishes and each one hit the mark. The oxtails were tender and falling off the bone, perfectly seasoned with rich gravy and savory vegetables. The mac & cheese was creamy and cheesy with a baked golden top, serious comfort food vibes. The steamed cabbage had the perfect crunch and balance, and the collard greens were slow-cooked with just the right amount of seasoning.
The rice and peas? Demmmmm. Fluffy and full of island flavor. And donāt even get me started on the jerk pork š, hubby say itās smoky, juicy, and just the right kick, because I donāt do the pork thing. Paired with sweet plantains and broccoli, it was a well-rounded and satisfying meal for him.
You can really tell everything is made with love and care. The portions are generous, the presentation is inviting, and the food speaks for itself.
If youāre craving real Caribbean food that feels like home, Hummingbirds Island Cuisine is a must-visit. Canāt wait to go...
