I was traveling Vietnam on motorcycle and ended my trip in Hanoi. I found this hotel on September 1, the day before Vietnams 80th Independence Day. I was planning on spending a few days in Hanoi Every hotel was booked in the old quarter. I walked into Eco Lux and they just had a cancellation. Long story short, they put me in a room for the night. Told me to have my stuff packed because they were going to move me to another room which was better. As I was out doing my tourist stuff, when I arrived back at the hotel. They had me all moved. The staff were amazing. Every one from housekeeping to front desk. Had a great laundry service and motor bike parking right out front.

A pleasant trip in Ha Noi with this Hotel: - 5 stars for the location: inside of the old quarter => we can walk to visit . The road in front of the hotel is not tiny, this easy to catch taxi, buses. - 5 star for the service: very gentle lady welcomed and gave us all necessary information for our journey. She can speak English very well 👌 We came back after our trip in Ha Long bay, and the hotel gave us a support to keep our luggage with a big smile 👍 Will come back and recommend to others this hotel

As we arrived in Hanoi our taxi driver was supposed to drop us of at the "Box Hotel". He started calling people while we were driving to our destination. As we arrived we were already expected by a man who called himself "Tom", he immediately told us that one of our rooms was unfortunately broken, because the electricity wasn't working. He told us that he was working for the "Box Hotel" and knew that we had 2 rooms for 4 person and he didn't want to separate us. He didn't want us to get out of the car and told the taxi-driver he should drive to the Ngoc Mai Hotel (or here by called the Hanoi Four Season Hotel, or on my picture the Ngoc Mai Hostel). As we arrived at the so called Hotel we checked into our rooms, which are nothing like on their homepage of course. Since we were exhausted from the trip we wanted to grab something to eat. As we were waiting for two of our friends the manager of the hotel started asking questions about our stay. We told him that we wanted to go to SAPA the next day and that we also expect our last night to be in the "Box Hotel" and not this hotel. He of course said "yes, yes" and continued asking questions about our stay in Hanoi. As we talked he started writing all of the dates down and looking up tours for us, which we never asked for. He wrote a complete schedule of our stay in Vietnam. After he was finished he expected us to pay about 200$ for a hole list of trips we never asked for or wanted. He started getting angry when we told him, that we didn't want any of these tours expect the night-bus ticket and the halong bay on our last day. He got really pushy when we told him that we didn't want the day-trip through Hanoi. The next morning we got two calls (waking us up at 8am) angrily asking when we would be down for breakfast. The breakfast was ridicules, the coffee was served in a dirty glass and the milk was sour. We decided to grab breakfast at a restaurant and as we were just about to leave the manager kept asking where we were going and when we would be back. The same situation happened two hours later when we checked out and decided to experience Hanoi for ourself, again he asked where we were going and when we would be back, since he offered us to leave our luggage there we didn't really think of anything bad. Back from our trip he wanted to take a shower (since he offered us a day earlier) and grab our luggage. We then noticed that some of our money was missing and someone had gone through our stuff. We had Bath (Thai-money) which was missing and actually well hidden. Everything came to us when we actually got back from our trip in Sapa, when we decided to go directly to the Box Hotel. The staff was totally overstrained and didn't know what we were talking about. At the end we found out that we were trapped by this Tom-guy who was in cooperation with this Hotel. We payed for the Hotel in advance so, the Ngoc Mai Hotels intention was to get money by selling a lot of trips. There were many other incidence which had happened during our stay, but I wanted to write down all the main points because this kind of Hotel and this staff should not be supported in any kind of way. We are not naiv tourist, we knew what was happening, but we were the only guests and it is kind of scary being in a foreign country when you don't know the...

Well, actually nothing luxury in this hotel as per their name. Nice interior at the lobby only, but very standard room and shower. There was no window and the room was quite small. Good that it was clean, but what else you can expect for a very cheap price? I could not complain because it’s very cheap, and please don’t compare the comfortness with the other hotel which is more expensive. You pay what you get.

Water heater also needs attention, they have no warm water, the water came out super cold or super hot hahaha. Anyway, still a very good choice if you just want to crash and sleep and wait for the next day. Especially, it was in the city centre, easy access to every where in walking distance. The front desk lady was also very nice and...
