Hanoi Chic Boutique Hotel,
As we all know, doing research for a hotel in a foreign country that is the best bang for your buck is difficult, time consuming, and at times frustrating. I have been fortunate to stay at some of the best hotels around the world (Hilton's, Hyatt Regency's, Fairmont's, and InterContinental's) Look no further, I've done the back work, experienced this first hand, and this property should be at the top of your list in the Old Quarter Hanoi.
Currently rated a 3 star hotel (don’t let this deter you, because in the Old Quarter Hanoi, 90% of the properties look and feel the same – even the 5 stars) hoever, this hotel delivers 5 star service which should be the most important in a foreign country (I'll explain later how important this is and was). the hotel amenities lack a few of the 5 star amenities but overall comfortable and well situated, and if your fortunate to get a room with a balcony, you're in luck to experience the organized chaos that is Old Quarter Hanoi 😊 .
English at the hotel is great, and staff attentive to your every need. From the moment my booking was complete, Rose – The General Manager, and her front end staff Ruby, Julie, and Tracy where consistently in communication with me, confirming that all was to complete satisfaction (rooms, activities, my stay in th city). She booked all of our activities, at reasonable prices, and as we all know- Hanoi is a CONSTANT Hustle. The hotel WILL NOT book activities, or recommend anything that they haven’t tried first hand.
As promised, I mentioned I would elaborate on the importance of Customer Care and English Fluency, I booked a 2 day/ 1 night tour to Halong Bay through Rose. Our first activity included Kayaking, my sister and I where just loading into a kayak when we were violently hit by a neighboring boat ( yes a full on, terrifying experience, for all onlookers and all involved) I had a difficult time communicating with the staff and explaining my sentiment as I was furious, and within 10 minutes of the incident, I communicated with Rose, and she had contacted the carrier, the management of the boat that hit us and had a full report for me within half an hour of the incident. Despite her being 3 hours away, she had already organized the captain of the boat that hit us to come and speak with us. The issue was resolved.
All in all, this hotel deserves exra stars for going over and beyond. I wish you the best of stays at the Hanoi Chic...
Read moreThis hotel doesn't deserve to exist. First of all, the photos are completely deceptive. The lobby almost doesn't exist and ends in 2 steps. The washroom at the so- called lobby is dirty. Second most important point to note - The lady staff at the reception is extremely rude and curt. She is extremely biased towards tourists from western countries. A highly rude lady who doesn't value the guests. Her attitude on the check out day becomes even worse as her plan is for you to check out asap, pay her the money and leave the property. That's when you think whether you should or shouldn't have arrived in Vietnam. One of our family members fell sick on the day of check out. We asked for a 30 min late check out of one room, but the same lady at the reception refused bluntly and didn't care about anyone being sick. Several rooms were vacant but still. Finally after several requests, she gave us a room but after 15 minutes, she sent their house keeping staff and asked us to vacate the room. Few more things - They don't have enough towels in their hotel and you have to wait endlessly till they find it convenient to arrange them for you. If you ask them for glasses for drinking water, they will refuse you bluntly and say that we don't provide more than 2 glasses in a room. Do not drink more than 2 cups of coffee in their room, as they will not give you more than 2 sachets per day. The breakfast place is so small that it can only accomodate 12-14 people at one point of time. So, if you have to catch a group tour at 7.30 or 8.30 in the morning, then be ready to go empty stomach as their small restaurant, mini kitchen and single chef can only handle that many people. The location is also in a smelly street. Conclusion: Please don't spoil your stay by staying in this bad hotel. Beware: I wrote this honest review and this is what she texted me on WhatsApp: Your family are also as the other Indian people. That’s why in the world’s eyes and other customers in our hotel, they always think bad about...

The property is located centrally in the Hanoi Old Quarter. Short walks to many popular sites. My room was very clean, and serviced daily. The entire property has a contemporary vintage clean feel. The bathroom has been updated and has a shower door. The room had a fridge, flatscreen. Comfy bed and good A/C. Even a bottle of red wine with glasses. WiFi worked everywhere.. The breakfast is served on the top floor with windows all around giving it an airy feeling. The breakfast was a wonderful buffet of fruits, salads, toast, eggs cooked to order menu specials and many other items all prepared by a lovely lady and good cook. Area tours, transport to and from the airport can be arraigned in minutes. SIM cards available. Bagged coffee for sale. Rose who runs everything is highly visible and genuinely cares about the guests. The front desk staff who I met Julie , Ruby and Kim are very capable. English is spoken fluently. There are many nearby restaurants, coffee houses, bars, ATMs. The HCBH is run well and a good value. It’s just one of those places I would stay at again and highly...
