Nestled in the heart of Hanoi’s bustling Old Quarter, La Siesta Classic Hang Thung offers an experience marked by genuine hospitality and thoughtful touches, though not without a few imperfections.
The Hotel The staff here are an undeniable highlight — consistently warm, helpful, and proactive. Whether offering tips for sightseeing, nearby cafés, or general assistance, their service mindset shines through without ever feeling forced.
The hotel’s location is prime: within easy walking distance of Hoan Kiem Lake and the French Quarter, though naturally this also means it is steeped in the constant buzz of Hanoi traffic. Noise from the busy streets and nearby construction is noticeable, but with earplugs, it becomes manageable.
We stayed in what is the hotel’s most premium room category: spacious, clean, and comfortably appointed, if not immaculate. Daily replenishment of water and fresh fruits adds a welcome touch. Housekeeping is attentive, with flexibility for guests’ schedules.
A small drawback: the air conditioning struggles to maintain a stable temperature — either too cold or too warm — which, given the seasonal transition into Hanoi’s early summer heat, made restful sleep a bit tricky.
Breakfast Breakfast service is varied and generous. A full buffet is complemented by à la carte options (eggs cooked to order, noodle soups, fresh fruits, pastries). While well-prepared, the offerings leaned toward solid rather than standout — enough to satisfy, but without that “craving to return” factor.
The Spa An excellent surprise: the spa delivers a genuinely good massage experience. After a long international flight, the spa service provided a deeply relaxing start to the holiday, with skilled therapists and a calm atmosphere.
The Red Bean Restaurant Despite the excellent service — attentive, courteous, and consistent — the in-house restaurant falls a little short in culinary impact. Dishes are beautifully presented but flavor-wise, they remain average. We found better, more vibrant dining experiences even in simple local cafés nearby. The food, like the hotel itself, is reliable but perhaps plays it too safe.
Overall La Siesta Classic Hang Thung is a very good base for travelers who want easy access to Hanoi’s main sights, wrapped in friendly service and comfortable surroundings. It’s not a luxury escape — nor does it pretend to be — but it offers real value for its price point and is delivered with genuine heart.
If you can navigate a bit of noise (and Hanoi is not for the noise-sensitive in any case), this is an excellent and welcoming option for a vibrant stay...
Read moreI had such a lovely check in experience with Freya. She was a delight, and made me feel so welcome. A true asset to your hotel. In fact, all the staff were wonderful.
Not going to lie, I did miss having an outside space. The pool is located in a sort of courtyard on the ground floor, so gets no sun. I could see the guests at a nearby hotel sitting around their rooftop pool, and was a little bit jealous. Personally, I think it was a mistake to put the pool downstairs. I’m sure having it on the roof would have made it more popular, and increased the uptake of food and beverages, as people would have spent more time lounging around the hotel.
There is an entire upper floor dedicated to the restaurant and sky bar, which seemed rarely used, apart from breakfast. I had an exceptionally well-made Singapore sling in the bar, where they do 2-4-1 cocktails during their happy hour from 4-6pm, and a lovely smoked duck salad.
I had an executive club room, which was on the 12th floor. The advantage of these rooms is that you have no one above, so less noisy. You can still hear some of the outside noise, so will probably need earplugs. Some better fitted/quality patio doors in the rooms may have helped with the soundproofing here. The rooms at the back of the hotel are definitely quieter. Try to avoid the 10th floor. The breakfast buffet is served in the 11th floor restaurant, and there’s a lot of chair scrapping going on. Another issue with the layout.
The room itself was amazing. Really well laid out, and beautifully designed, with everything you could possibly need. The bed was super comfy.
Their breakfast is very good, with great quality ingredients.
The room water comes in reused glass bottles, but there’s no bin to recycle cans, plastics, paper etc
Their spa was simply too expensive (even with their 10% off offer) so I went elsewhere for half the price.
Look, this is a really good hotel with phenomenal customer service – however, for me the overall layout/design is slightly flawed. I believe the breakfast room/restaurant would have been better downstairs, and they should have found a way to have the pool upstairs/outside, with some nice loungers.
Still very happy to recommend, and had a...
Read moreOur stay at La Siesta Classic Boutique Hotel in Hanoi was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautifully designed; elegant, comfortable, and incredibly welcoming. Cleanliness and hygiene were a solid 10/10: everything was spotless, with our room cleaned thoroughly every single day. We always returned to a fresh and inviting space.
The breakfast buffet was a highlight, such a delicious and varied spread with both local and international options. The restaurant food was also excellent, and the room service was impressively quick and efficient, which made relaxing in the room even more enjoyable.
From the moment we checked in, the warmth of the staff was felt immediately. We were greeted with a welcome drink while the check-in process was completed, and the team genuinely took the time to introduce themselves and get to know us. That personal touch continued throughout our entire stay.
The hotel’s location is perfect, set on a quieter street that still offers close proximity to the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake, giving us the best of both worlds: peace and convenience.
What made this stay truly unforgettable was the incredible staff. Without me knowing, my partner had arranged a birthday surprise with their help, and I was genuinely touched by the care and effort they put into it. They even gave me a few thoughtful gifts and wished me a happy birthday throughout the day…it was so heartwarming and appreciated. They also helped organise a beautiful birthday dinner and seemed genuinely excited to be part of the celebration. I was so impressed and grateful that I decided to extend our stay by an extra night!
A very special thank you to Tram and Grace, who went above and beyond with their kindness, attentiveness, and thoughtful gestures. Their warmth and professionalism truly stood out and they are to be commended for their hard work and played a big part in making our experience so special.
This was, without a doubt, the best hotel stay of my life. I cannot recommend La Siesta Hotel highly enough, and I’m already looking forward to returning. Thank you...
