Lucky Star Hotel 266 Đề Thám — Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

We came in the evening and got a room, then within 2 hours, receptionist (who can barery speak english) called 2 times. 1st that we got smaller room that we should have and 2nd time that we got actually bigger room that we should have. The truth was that the room they gave us was smaller and different to the one we booked. We discovered later that the one we booked was empty but they keep it in case someone will come last minute and want to stay there (really doubt that ever happend). Anyway, they wanted us to either change the rooms at 11pm while we were in our pyjamas or the next day when we had tours planned for the whole day OR give them more money. Btw the rooms are nasty and nothing like in the pictures. The room we were in had “view on the city” according to hotel management, which was in fact the view on discusting pavement in front of them hotel. Despite the fact that THEY put us in that room and then want us to move 2 hours later, the manager said that if we do not pay more for the room, we should find another hotel. I used my booking . Com app to book 6 nights room for my client (my client has chosen this property). I booked , confirmed and done.

They messaged me asking about arrival time, I immediately replied and confirmed. They kept messaging me asking “if I arrive or not” which I always replied with yes I’m sure I will be there.

My client arrived and tried to check in, then , he immediately called me asking me the hotel is full. I called the hotel and explained them the booking but then the reception said “sorry we’re fully booked” and they tried to send my client to their sister’s hotel (nearby), my client accepted it for the first night stay.

The next day they threatened my client to pay $200 if he want to cancel the entire booking. Just because they didn’t follow to book as we done in booking . Com and also my client didn’t like the other hotel at any cost.

Finally with lots of calling and speaking, they agreed to cancel the booking.

Please stay away from...

First, before arriving, they sent me an aggressive email, threatening to cancel my (fully guaranteed) booking if I don't tell them my arrival time soon.

Then, when I arrived, they told me my booked room was not available and I couldn't stay at the hotel. Instead they sent me to a different hotel by the same company (Lucky Star Hotel 146 Nguyễn Trãi), which was cheaper and further away from the city center. (They could and should have told me all that via email, so I could have gone to the other hotel directly, not losing time and additional taxi money)

When I arrived at the other hotel, they wanted to charge me the same amount as in the original hotel, even though this new hotel is cheaper. They also demanded that I cancel the booking with the original hotel, even though it was their fault.

Finally they gave me a small, old room that had nothing to do with the suite I originally booked. This Lucky Star Hotel chain is...
