I totally agree with another reviewer who mentioned that this takes them back to Japan and what a hidden gem of a store this is in Subi! Take care when you're in the store. There's a lot to look at and the space to walk between areas is tight.

I did not intend to buy anything but heck, no regrets! I ended up with an origami crane incense holder, ume (perserverence) and spicy sweet incense, an upcycled kimono scrunchie and a key holder.

There is something for everyone though - ceramics, practicing mindfulness, lucky charms, protection bracelets, apparel, hair accesories, kitchen utensils, sake cups and bottle sets, soaps, jewellery/earrings, tea etc. Items are either handmade, premium and quality products. my girlfriend has been obsessed with getting matcha powders recently, so when she heard that there was a japanese market that sold matcha powder she was so excited. We bought some and were so eager to go home to try it, but to our dismay, we realised that the matcha was not very finely milled and turned out quite lumpy. The next day, we tried sifting (which isn’t usually needed for other matcha brands) but there were still quite apparent lumps, giving the matcha a grainy texture and overall a little disappointing considering it was not cheap at all and we travelled all the way to fremantle to try it. Found a jem of a shop in freo. The shop has such a zen and peaceful vibe with so many traditional Japanese items on sale from incense, clothing, matcha bowls and so many other beautiful things. Store is very neat and has information tags to give shoppers a deeper understanding of cultural significance and history of items. Shop as got incense going so it was a sensory experience as well.
