Breaks — Restaurant in Fremantle

Note: still giving five stars because I don't want to effect their rating. Just wanted to offer constructive critique . 10+ years ago I would frequent this place for the moo burger which at that time I beleive was one of the best burgers you could get in Perth. Returning after all these years for a moo, was disappointed it wasn't how it used to be - (soft and very flavourful patty with melted Swiss cheese, hints of seeded mustard and rocket and everything loose but perfectly held together.)

Unfortunately what I received this time returning after all these years was a sloppy mess - way too much mayonnaise, over packed full of rocket, and they must have changed the spices used in the patty as its distinct flavour was missing. Everything just fell apart. Composition is important in great burgers and it simple wasn't there. Furthermore the chips had the distinctive "frozen" chip texture and could be greatly improved. For $18 it is still decent burger and I understand there's variation in each Chef's interpretation, but unfortunately that burger is just not what it once was...

Most unprofessional waitress in a long while. The problem? The waitress made a mistake in the order and instead of a coffee in a mug she brought a coffee in a cup. Not a big issue, mistakes happen. The solution? Bring back the right order, make a superficial apology, be polite and attentive to the customer, and move on. You'd think... I had to ask the waitress twice what she had put down as my order and I was told she'd check and get back. Waiting over 40 minutes I went downstairs to pick my coffee myself and I was greeted at the till with her holding 50c as a refund. This person had an attitude not only towards myself but also towards another waitress, with customers watching. So the experience was somewhat lacking decorum. We have been going to Breaks since 2010 and I have never come across such behaviour. This is telling of the customer service. The food is good but the experience was not. I may be old school, but I do expect to be treated politely as a customer and be spoken to the same way I talk to them. I am not sure the good quality food is enough to bring...

So overall poor quality food, over priced, long waiting hours even during less busy hours. Wouldn't recommend the food! It's not worth the wait either. May be have a coffee and enjoy the space...

Ordered a dish with rice. Rice was a disaster, uncooked and dried out. Quantity of rice for a $23 dish was poor. 3/4 th cup of rice! Wait for food was half an hour. It wasn't busy at all. Cucumber was old or spoiled. There were reddish orange spots on the cucumber which says its old or spoiled.

On a previous occasion, ordered croissants with ham and cheese in a less busy time. The lady at the counter was too busy cleaning dishes. Waited for some time and felt like the food is getting burned in the toaster. So reminded her about the toast and she handed over the half burned toast! I just thought she might be having a bad day or may be rushing home. So ignored it completely.
