Lamont's Bishops House — Local services in Perth

Great service, WOEFUL chef. We came here recently for our anniversary, a booking made over a month ago. I advised in my booking 5 weeks ago that it was our anniversary and that we wanted a seafood only menu for one of the diners. When we arrived, the venue was empty at 7:30 on a Friday night in the city (sadly this makes sense to me now). They were playing an awful soundtrack from the 90s, that sounded like it was playing from a half broken radio. Whilst I don’t really judge this type of thing, it definitely ruined the atmosphere in the totally empty restaurant. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive, thank you to them for a lovely night. That said, in short, the food was average at the best of times, and at the worst, made you wonder what kind of chef is being paid to serve up this menu. I was absolutely shocked and appalled at my first course which, as a non meat eater, ended up as literally vegetables in boiled broth. The waitress even stated when we first arrived “the chef is still working out what to serve ‘you’ for the first course”. Had I not booked 5 weeks before I may not have been disappointed by the literal frozen corn and peas served in seaweed broth with 3 cherry tomatoes that arrived for me. If I hadn’t have paid $175 for my meal I may not have been so upset. And that disappointment followed through every other course. What a terrible disappointment for such a wonderful venue. Lamont’s - you desperately need a new chef that understands what degustation and FLAVOUR actually means. You also need to understand that catering for people with eating differences means more than boiling some vegetables - if you can’t accommodate them then just say so, don’t make guests pay for your lack of planning ability. In addition, for the price paid, we were disappointed that our anniversary celebration was not acknowledged by the staff in any way at all - a truly crappy experience for the price you charge. I have visited too many restaurants I can count, and even the worst of them made an effort to acknowledge the occasion after it being asked for, and mentioned, on the booking. Sadly, we will never come back here Lamont’s, an absolutely woeful experience. I now totally understand how a mid-city fine-dining restaurant can be empty on what should be a busy...

We recently celebrated our wedding at Lamont’s Bishop House, and it was nothing short of magical. The venue itself is stunning — the heritage charm, lush garden setting, and intimate atmosphere made it the perfect backdrop for our special day.

A huge special mention and heartfelt thanks to Mathew, the manager, who went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly. From the very first meeting to the final moments of our night, he was professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. His calm and friendly approach made the entire process stress-free, and his attention to detail ensured everything was exactly as we envisioned.

Our guests couldn’t stop talking about the incredible food, beautiful ambience, and seamless flow of the evening. We’re so grateful to the whole Lamont’s team for creating such a memorable experience for us and our loved ones.

We were very fortunate to be able to celebrate our daughter's wedding on Friday 20 March 2020 at Bishop House...(@ 50 people) given the restrictions we have this week on social gatherings. The venue looked amazing and the staff did a magnificent job making everyone feel welcome and providing excellent food and drinks throughout the evening. The guests enjoyed an amazing array of Vegan foods prepared by the wonderfully creative chef at Lamonts and everyone commented on how tasty each selection was. Thank you to Matt, Jack, Carmen and the friendly staff at Lamonts for helping make our daughter Zia and her husband Michael's special day so memorable. Our family look forward to returning to Lamont's Bishop House to enjoy quality food, beverages and atmosphere in the future..let's hope its sooner than...
