( ā Long story short ā ) The Manager on shift refunded only ONE person entry fee- for her personal mistake. To say I was disappointed is a understatement. Please don't make the mistake of visiting these two places, you might lose $200 dollars in less than 45mins. All because their staff isn't training properly and have bad attitude problems- like hey you are working. Not a good image for the company at all.
( āThe full story ... ā ) I am not frazed or surprised at the reviews on both The Amplifier Bar and The Magnet House. I wanted to have a fun night out with close friends because we RARELY go out due to being busy all the time. Instead was met with a horrible experience from BOTH places. One friend really wanted to go (The Amplifier) so we did and got in- mind you it was ($50 per person). Unfortunately for us the band started packing up, so we weren't there long. Due to another friend mentioning (The Magnet House) we went there.
From there it went south, we were approached by a rude security guard. He mentioned the outfit my boyfriend was wearing wasn't appropriate for (The Magnet House) regulations- normal red jersey and some nice black shorts with black TN's. We probably would of moved on if not for a few reasons like;
" Why were we accepted in (The Amplifier) if his outfit didn't fit the regulations?"
" Isn't (The Magnet House) dress-code regulations the same? "
" Why does he have to be so rude about it? Like we didn't know... "
After mentioning these things to the horrible security guard- cause we are all genuinely confused here. He just start literally shaming on the outfit more with attitude- "I mean it's a sports jersey with shorts man .." something along the lines. It's not the fact he isn't letting us go in (cause of the outfit), but the fact that he is not handling this conversation well for someone that is getting paid. Not professional at all, disgusting attitude and was definitely not solving the issue at hand- like security guards are meant to do. Unfortunately from here it got worst as we decided we are just going to head back to (The Amplifier)- we did spend literally $200 for the four of us to get in why not, right?
Well somehow (The Magnet House) told (The Amplifier) about this dress code issue. So the four of us didn't get back into the bar because of a three reasons. One- dress code (our fault), two- the lack of training of security guards and three- the lacking of a manager present. I am a upset customer, because I wouldnt of spend money on the entry if I was only notified at the start about the dress code.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to magnet tonight - sober. Security went to kick me outā¦twice. Firstly because I had really bad period pain. I was told Iām not allowed to close my eyes in the venue. I had closed my eyes for a second to breathe because of the pain. It took a lot of convincing by my friends for them to allow me to stay. I suffer from PCOS and this was a really upsetting experience. I spent the rest of the time trying to pretend I wasnāt in pain. Shortly after, I was standing on the 4m wide stairs for no more than 10 seconds before being approached by another security guard and asked to move on. I was really taken aback by it and it took me a second to process what she was asking of me. Before I could respond she started to push me down the stairs. Iām usually super understanding and responsive when being asked do something by staff, sometimes a little too compliant - but this experience was quite upsetting and frightening. After being literally pushed down stairs - I had to leave as I didnāt feel safe being there anymore. This kind of behaviour from security is exactly what has been proven to provoke violent behaviour and fights between people. When I got home I went to leave this review, I found so many other reviews by other women who had experienced the same treatment by security staff. Many people felt that it was a financially driven response, because for each person that is kicked out, another can be let in for a fee. It seemed like women in particular seemed to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI thought it was pretty strange to have a night club in the middle of the city called āmagnet houseā but none the less me and my mates wanted to have some fun. the line was awful and we waited in line for at least 5 minutes only to discover it you had to pay to get in. well, no biggie since we all have average paying jobs and a high discipline on saving a sufficient amount of cash flow to maintain our newly built granny flat. so we payed, got in and me, and one of my other mates wearing metal clothes, got picked up and and pulled into the ceiling seeming it was full of magnets. we had to wait, stuck on the ceiling, for 15 minutes before they turned off the magnetic field and we could get back down! then when we took our metal clothes off, they called the police and charged us with indecent exposure. lucky our lawyer managed to get us off but it was outrageous and we will certainly never be going back again. i would give lower than 1 star but i canāt so iāll give 1 and a guarantee i will...
