It was my first time dining in at SoM and they totally blew me away. Let’s talk about food first. I love love love all the entrees. The beef tartare was probably the best beef tartare I’ve ever had. The fried pork & chicken parcel with sticky hoisin sauce was delicious. The prawns and mussels with sweet & sour sauce with were perfectly cooked. For main, I ordered the market fish and my friend ordered beef fillet with mushroom & green peppercorn sauce. My fish was moist and the citrus cream sauce with salmon pearls was exquisite. I tried my friend’s steak, it’s well cooked and the mushroom sauce was yumm! I have to mention the side dish: green beans with garlic & parmesan. It’s a simple dish that I could (literally) eat it every day, couldn’t stop eating it. Couldn’t say no to dessert, we had the cheesecake with with blueberry compote, crumble & citrus sorbet. Lucky we ordered it. All elements put on really compliment each other, to die for! Service was great, all staffs were friendly and attentive. Ambience was great: modern, bright & relaxing. I cant wait to go back. Hats off to the chefs. Thank you for the lovely dining experience, worth every penny :)

First and foremost, Mavis was exceptionally welcoming and made us feel immediately comfortable. Her warm welcome and friendly service is something all hospitality workers strive for and is an example of excellence. Looking forward to our meal!! Edit: meal was wonderful and tasted amazing, however between starters and mains it was an hour+ wait. We were informed it was an mis entry of away times then later told that was not the case. Typically not a huge deal as mistakes happen and that doesn’t detract from the delicious meal. Biggest issue was when we mentioned this to staff at the front we were told 1st round of drinks would be comped (roughly 30$ value) then received a 7$ discount with a 26$ service fee that was not included in the original transaction. Happy to pay a service fee however to include in lieu of a comped round of drinks is disingenuous and not a good reflection of the overall vibe of the restaurant. To conclude our waitstaff were very accommodating and the meal was delicious, but Jacob could have received the feedback a bit better, especially considering it was a birthday celebration. Again, Mavis was still incredible!

This restaurant is situated in the Parmelia Hilton and you would expect a five-star rating. The décor gives the restaurant a dark feel. We visited on a Friday night for dinner while staying at the Parmelia Hilton with friends for the weekend. The restaurant was quite and the service received during the evening was only okay. For a quite night not much attention was given. For the entrée I had three “Scallops, kataifi, sweetcorn and tobiko” which was well present and tasty. With the main I had the “pork belly, tamarind & coconut, cucumber and pineapple” Unfortunately this was not to my liking. I found the cucumber and pineapple salad didn’t quite suit the taste of the pork belly. I think the we are pushing boundaries with the food presentation. On the other hand, my friends enjoyed their dinner. Would only return if staying at the Parmelia Hilton for ease due to location.

While the restaurant had a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and some elements of the experience were pleasant, our evening was ultimately overshadowed by poor service, unprofessional behavior, and disappointing food quality. To begin with, the food itself did not meet expectations. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it was served extremely tough and chewy far from tender and nearly impossible to eat. I was unable to finish it. Making it worse, some of us were provided with standard butter knives rather than proper steak knives, which made cutting the meat even more difficult. The octopus served as part of the entrée was also cold when it arrived, which took away from the dish entirely.

More seriously, we experienced unacceptable behaviour from the assistant manager, Jacob. He was very rude ,throughout the night, his demeanour toward our group who are members of the Black community felt noticeably disrespectful. His facial expressions while taking our orders were uncomfortable and seemed to carry a clear bias. At the bar, when we requested lemons with our drinks, Jacob used a plate that already had used lemon peels on it to serve what were meant to be fresh lemons. This was extremely unhygienic and unacceptable in any food and beverage setting. When I voiced my concern to the bartender, Jacob responded with a cold, unfriendly look that made the situation feel even more hostile. To make matters worse, he made an unprofessional and inappropriate comment questioning why one of our friends appeared to be 10 years older than the rest of us. This remark was uncalled for and had no relevance to our evening it felt intrusive and mean-spirited. While the staff overall seemed courteous and the restaurant itself was enjoyable, this specific interaction left a lasting negative impression. I hope management addresses these concerns seriously to ensure all guests feel respected and valued, regardless of...

Came to Samuel’s on mill for our wedding anniversary after seeing this pop up on my feed for some time. I have to say I had really high expectations and we were both left very disappointed. When we were being showed to our table majority of the restaurant was empty and we were sat along a bunk seat right next to another table which was a little awkward to have to move the ladies bag to be able to sit down when they could of just sat us at anyone of the empty tables.

We ordered the octopus, beef tataki, gnocchi and beef fillet which when they were put down we were happy with the presentation. Each dish besides the beef fillet we feel was lacking in the taste or had so much sauce on it which took away from main item completely. We were so confused with each bite looking at each other questioning the dishes and looking at your reviews and being totally confused.

I ended up passing the beef fillet to my husband so we atleast could share the only thing we felt was nice and not leave super hungry. The waitress came over and asked how the food was I paused then saying I guess it was okay.. which then she didn’t ask further.

After deciding whether or not to go ahead and have dessert as we didn’t want to be disappointed again I decided to go ahead to have a dessert but my partner declined as at this point he just didn’t want to take the risk of becoming more annoyed.

Luckily the tiramisu was very lovely but to spend $220 I feel due to the other dishes it wasn’t...

Sadly, this review is for overall experience and service for Samuels. The food and cocktails were very good, albeit small serves of food. Our party of 7 was celebrating a big milestone birthday celebration. Online booking, I had made it known it was a Birthday and ticked the box as well as made a comment about the big birthday. Now I'm not suggesting we deserve anything overly special, or having all the staff sing happy birthday. However if you aren't going to even acknowledge the birthday or do something small (a small plate with a Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce like other higher end restaurants do, would have sufficed) why bother asking when booking? Despite informing one of the wait staff after mains were order, still no acknowledgement or anything done when desert was ordered/delivered. I just find this very poor form. The restaurant wasn't busy, so staff can't use that as an excuse. Just very disappointing when we chose this restaurant to celebrate the night, as we heard good things bout the food (which was good, as mentioned) ordered a variety of dishes and cocktails as well as deserts and still couldn't even acknowledge or help celebrate the milestone birthday. Will be passing on this feedback to friends and family as this is...
