Our day went extremely smooth and our tour guide (Nick) was kind, friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. The tour was well organized. We didn't have to wait in any lines, each excursion's directions were easy to understand.
Before you start your excursion, make sure to verify your pick up spot. We started the day crossing the border into Canada. We left early, around 8am, for a 9am pickup. It was about a 40 minute walk from our hotel on the US side to where we were picked up in Canada (I was told later that you can arrange to be picked up from the bridge itself which would have saved some time). We were picked up in a parking lot. The directions to the parking lot were a bit confusing but you'll spot the See Sight tour vans coming into the lot. We went through 4 drivers before ours showed up, but we were early. They have pre-planned pickup for about 6 people every 15 minutes.
I'm an organized, check box kind of person. I checked the itinerary 3 times before leaving, thinking I had a good idea of what we were going to do. I would recommend having an open mind and understand the events may be flexible in timing, as the guide will try to get you to the best place at the best time, especially for crowds. Our itinerary did not match our day, but we did everything on our agenda.
The day started with the journey behind the falls. Great place for views below and above the falls. Had about an hour there to check it out on your own, buy gifts, take tons of pictures.
Left from there to go to the boat tour. Huddled onto the Hornblower for about 30 minutes and see the views from the water. We stayed on the right side of the boat on the front. You miss the original views of the waterfalls but you get to see the same view when the boat comes back. You will get wet. At the top of the boat you will get soaked. Even with the poncho they give you. I wore waterproof open toed shoes and I was fine. Others wore tennis shoes with socks and were soaked. Took hours to dry. We were at that area for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Grabbed some beers and enjoyed some live music before getting picked up again.
Next up was lunch at Skylon tower. The guide leads you to where you need to go, to the elevator and to the restaurant. You preorder your food with your guide so when you get to the restaurant, they just start bringing your food (this was all included in the cost). The tower does revolve slowly so you get. 360 degree view. Every seat is a "good" seat. This lunch is on a scheduled reservation time. The glass door elevator is awesome and quick with a view. After lunch, we went to the observation deck (see pictures). We were there for about an hour and a half then off to the helicopter tour.
This was surprisingly fast. We were there for about fifteen minutes before getting on the helicopter (this is also on a reservation basis so it may be different by group). They take a quick group photo and get you inside, buckle you in, and you're off. The experience was unlike any other being able to see the falls from that view. It goes by very fast. It was a little, tiny bit choppy because it was a windy day, but mostly smooth. You're in the air for maybe 10-12 minutes. I read up on what to wear and the website said dark color top and jeans. Jeans weren't necessary, but glad I wore a dark top because lighter colors do reflect off the glass. You don't ge a headset but there is a prerecorded audio tour. Worked out fine for our group. Loved it.
And that was the end of the day. Started the pick up around 9:15am and was dropped off around 3pm. The tour guide offered to drop us off wherever we wanted. The whole experience was incredible. Helped that the day was sunny with not a cloud in the sky, which was better for getting dry from all the water and the helicopter ride was able to go (they will cancel for weather and safety/viewing reasons).
Hope this helps someone who is considering booking this experience. I would 100% recommend it. Just enjoy the experience one...
Read more2022-Sept, party of 3, Saturday on a Labor Day weekend. I booked on-line, 2 days before the booked date. I received an email & text confirmation and direction on what to do the day of.
They were supposed to pick us up from our hotel between 9:30 am & 9:40 am. We were at the entrance of our hotel at 9:25 am. We didn't get picked up until 9:47 am by a Mercedes van with the logo "See-Sight tours" on the passenger door just as described in the confirmation email.
There were another couple that was in our group, from the same hotel as ours. We stopped at another hotel for 1 more person, waited another 5+ minutes for the person to come down, but then our driver told us that that person cancelled. So we ended up with 4 adult and 1 child in our group.
Our driver/tour guide was Hassan. He was nice. He just started as a tour guide this summer, but has lived around the area for his entire life thus he pretty much knows his history. He did good being a novice tour guide.
As we go to the sites, Hassan narrates the history of the stuff as we passed by.
Our first site tour is the Journey Behind The Falls - a walking tour to the side of the falls and to a tunnel that ends at the back of the falls. Hassan parked the car, got our tickets and told us where to go, where and when to meet him after. It was nice that our tickets includes fast-lane because the line was a little long. Hassan didn't go inside the tour with us, which was fine. There was a green backgound photo booth on this one that costs $44CAD for 2 photos.
Our 2nd stop was the Skylon Tower Observation Deck. Like the 1st tour, he parked the van, grabbed our tickets and told us where & when to meet him after. This experience is similar to a toned-down Seattle Space Needle tour. The green background photos on this one is much better and cheaper (per photo) than the previous one, it includes 5 photos for $50CAD.
After this tour, we head into the van and noticed that there were soda in the cup holders of our seats. Hassan said, he had to pick up another group while we were up on the tower because they were short on tour guide drivers.
Our 3rd stop is the Whirlpool Rapids. This was the shortest tour. No, we did not go down into the water. We were just shown the site through an elevated flatform.
Our 4th and last stop was on-board the Hornblower Niagara Cruises. The line on this one was way long and our tickets was just a regular tickets so we waited in-line like the others.
After the tour, we were dropped off to our hotel.
Overall, the tour was worth it. The van ride was comfortable. The temperature inside the van was perfect. Hassan, our tour guide did well. Times alotted for each site was enough, even for photo crazy as I am. And last but not the least, parking on the Niagara Falls area is horrific, so getting picked up and return was a great add-on!
Hope this review helped you in any way..
Thanks, and have a...
Read moreWe booked a 'Best of Niagara, Skylon Tower, behind the falls & boat trip' tour through Viator. I've always had great experiences with Viator so felt reassured by this. The tour was great, there was some walking as described in the tour information but just between the attractions so we didn't really consider it a walking tour. Our tour guide Alisha was lovely, entertaining and cheerful and she shared a lot of her knowledge and love of the area with us. She also gave us valuable tips on how best to enjoy the attractions. Although this was advertised as a 'skip the queue' tour, there were times we couldn't 'skip the queue' such as needing to come back up from the caves behind the falls where there was a long line of queuing visitors and Alisha had stayed up-top. Because we seemed to choose a quiet day / time there was also a time we found ourselves in a longer 'tour guide queue' when independent travellers were simply walking through the empty gates. Alisha kept up entertained with information about Niagara and the area at these times though so it felt manageable. The main confusion and stress I experienced was the repeated communications from the tour guide company .. emails / WhatsApp etc.. stating that we were booked onto the 'Niagara walking rour'. This wasn't the title of the tour I had booked and paid for. I tried to email and company and replied to their WhatsApp about this and did receive confirmation that we were registered on the correct tour, yet the emails and messages with the wrong tour title kept coming. Finding the tour guide was confused by incorrect meeting place being given on all the instructions. We edited up just grabbing anybody with SeeSignt tour company clothing and asking them.. Webwere in fact booked onto the 'walking tour' even though the title of our tour booking was something else. These confusions made the days before the tour and meeting the tour guide really quite stressful and interferesd with the couple of days leading up to the tour a bit. Overall our tour experience was great bit the admin on this tour needs sorting - give the tour name people have paid for and tell them the correct meeting place, and all would have...
