I must disagree with all the negative reviews of this place, based upon our actual experience. My wife and I ate at the lunch buffet on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018 and had a wonderful experience. Our reservations were for 11:30 am, but we arrived at the tower about 11:00. We were warmly greeted by the downstairs receptionist, who informed us that we couldn't check in until 11:15, so we waited a bit. Promptly at 11:15, we were checked in and proceeded to the elevator for the ride to the top. Views from the elevator "set the stage" for what we were about to experience! Once we arrived at the restaurant at the top, we had a short wait while those ahead of us were seated. When it became our turn, we were greeted by a friendly maitre d who escorted us to our seat...right beside the window, directly across from the American falls but with an excellent view of Horseshoe falls! After being seated for only short time, our waiter, Chris, arrived at our table to take our drink order. He clearly explained that water, coffee, and hot tea were included with the buffet, but any other drink would be extra. We opted for water, followed by coffee with our dessert. Chris also told us where to enter the buffet line. The food on the buffet was attractively displayed, and there were plenty of choices including beef, chicken, fish, and a variety of side dishes. The cold salmon on the salad bar was delicious, and there were lots of salad choices. There was also a variety of desserts. Due to confined space at the top of the tower, we did find that buffet lines somewhat crowded and hard to maneuver, but it wasn't a big deal. The salads, side dishes, and desserts were all excellent, and my prime rib was good. Overall, we thought the food was above average for a buffet of this sort. Our service was excellent, as Chris frequently came by to refill our water and coffee and take away empty plates. The view from our seat was fantastic, making the meal most enjoyable. After we finished eating, our waiter directed us to the observation deck, where the views were beyond belief! Luckily, it was a clear day when we were there, and we could see the skyline of Toronto clear across Lake Ontario. You can stay at the observation deck as long as you want, and it has in inside and outside section. The best pictures can be made from outside, but it was windy and cool. The Skylon Summit Suite Buffet is somewhere you go for the entire experience, not just the food. Our experience completely exceeded our expectations, especially after reading some of the bad reviews! I would highly recommend putting this on your bucket list should you visit...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went out to the Niagara Falls area for a vacation around New Years and he surprised me by taking me to this restaurant. Unfortunately New Years ended up VERY foggy so ther wasn't much of a view (but thats not the restaurants fault!). Now there are a few reasions why I would suggest you DO NOT waste your money coming here.
1.We were extremely suprised to find how crowded the restaurant was, for something that is advertised as being a higher end buffet it was incredibly cramped.
There were people coming around mid meal interupting you asking to take your picture. Without telling you how much it was going to cost you. They bring it back to you printed and tell you how much it will cost if you want to keep it, I declined it based on the fact I knew they would not allow us to retake/pick a picture we would like.
The buffet was VERY limited when it came to food selection. Half the things they claimed to offer we're not out or available for us and they brought out a shrimp dish right at the END of our meal! It was the only thing I really enjoyed and I was pretty much too full to eat it!
The staff do NOT KNOW WHATS IN THE FOOD. If you have allergies BEWARE as even if you ask they won't be able to tell you. I have a severe allergy to chocolate and was asking about one of their desserts. The wait staff went into the back to ask the chef and when he came out his exact words were "There is no chocolate, only cocoa powder". I don't think he realised that those two things were basically the same!
I ended up not feeling well by the end of the meal, presumably from eating a little too much, and had to spend some time in the womens rest room. During this time the staff came and informed my boyfriend that he had to leave because they wanted his seat.
The next day I found out it was not over eating that made me ill but was in fact the food! Both of us had the runs and it took me 4 full days for my stomach to fully recover. Something there was either sitting out too long or not cooked right.
In the end this place was NOT worth the price they advertise. My boyfriend felt terrible for putting me through all this but they seriously need the health inspector to come check this...

Reserved for our first anniversary and did we ever make the wrong choice. On the elevator ride up the attendant said to take pictures as we rode. There were so many people crammed into the elevator no one could move let alone take a picture. We had requested a table by the window. When we arrived we were placed at an inside table so small you could not even set your phone down. Even though we saw options for window seats we were not offered one. So no view for our anniversary. The buffet was less than half the size of a typical restaurant buffet (such as mandarin) with one fish option, one beef option, turkey with stuffing, and the only chicken was chicken strips. The sides were limited as well. More than half the buffet was the two salad bars. We ordered drinks. I tried a peach bellini which tasted okay but was hard to drink the alcohol was too strong. Ending up leaving more than half of it. My husband ordered a beer, when they returned we were told they did not have what he ordered and he was offered a different draft. He was not happy with it and also only had half his drink, very bitter for a beer. After dinner we went to the observation deck so we could at least get a view there. We took the stairs as the elevators were sorely overcrowded. After a couple quick photos we waited in a long line for the elevator down and we're squished in even more so than the last time. I had someone pushing into me on every side and could not move. Yet the attendant still said in their cheery voice look at the view, take pictures. Sir, how do you suggest I turn around to do so? At the bottom you are greeted with a souvenir shop and some goofy picture options if you haven't already felt you have wasted enough money. The dissapointing meal for two cost us a whopping $200. We are so sad we chose this place for our special day and surprised at the complete lack of a venue such as this trying to make an...
