Absolutely amazing days on the mountain with ExCan! (So good I came back for more!) My first day was last Saturday when I participated in a Women's Freeride day organized by Les Chevres BC. That's when I met and got to ski with MP and Kate as our ExCan guides. They were phenomenal teachers and skiers! I had so much fun riding a HUGE powder day with them. Thanks to their coaching, I built up tons of confidence riding trees and drops that I signed up for the 1-Day Steeps Clinic the next Wednesday. I wanted to a) keep building my steep terrain skills, b) discover more of the mountain terrain (places I don't usually go to) and c) skip chairlift lines (I knew it would be a bluebird day with lots of terrain still untouched from the storms a few days earlier) :) Wow, same as Kate and MP had, my guide on Wednesday delivered! After getting sorted into skills and speed-based groups, we ended up with a 2:1 student:guide ratio and we got to work with Steve (Clarke), who found some amazing powder stashes that hadn't been ridden yet around Peak (we were up the 2nd day after a big storm). Then he focused on some steep terrain, including steeps in tress, and skiing technique before heading over to Blackcomb for an afternoon of more trail exploring and powder searching. I finally got to explore Spanky's Ladder and ride Ruby Bowl which was a highlight. I'm so impressed with the instruction beyond just skiing tips. They talk about safety, stories about the mountain, links to indigenous culture, all in a well-paced, fun and challenging day. This is definitely going to be an annual experience for me. Can't wait to ride w Extremely Canadian again!

Our private lesson was with Jane E. We enjoyed her fun and helpful personality. She was confident and knowledgeable in her abilities as well as her knowledge of the mountains. Jane made our experience one of my favorite ski days ever. I skied out of my comfort zone and felt proud of myself for doing so. Every run felt fun and extraordinary. Jane would explain the plan, show us the best way to proceed and lift us up with reassurance when we felt little butterflies in our stomachs. She never put us in harms way but also took us to some of the most difficult runs I've ever conquered. Her knowledge and timing was impeccable. She listened for how the skis sounded on the slopes as we rode the chairs, collaborated with the rest of her team on what runs were warming up well, and even let her team know what runs she had done with us to give them advice on their own tours as well. Just amazing skill and calm demeanor. We laughed quite a bit too! On a side note and not to be overlooked: Claudia at the front desk was incredibly helpful. She was patient and friendly as we switched our 2day steeps class over to a 1 day private. It felt easy and she prioritized our experience when making all the changes. I find it more rare these days to find service of this caliber. Well done Claudia and Jane, for expertly making my birthday weekend one I will not soon forget. Now I just have to convince my three daughters to get on the slopes with Extremely Canadian when they are there! I will be taking every class/experience they have to offer. I can assure you, its well worth every dollar spent.

This past weekend I had the chance to do the two day snowboard clinic with Extremely Canadian and had an absolute blast. The first day I met my instructor Bob in the morning and instantly knew this was going to be an awesome time. He was such a kind guy and truly made the two days a great experience. He was patient and had so much knowledge of Whistler. Bob also knew how to teach, he had many good pointers on how I could improve my riding and push myself a bit further then I normally would have. The clinic program itself was great because, we both had never been to Whistler before and with the insane amount of terrain that is between the two mountains it would have been much less enjoyable if we had to navigate it by ourselves. By going through this program we had a tour around both mountains and even got to skip the long chairlift lines. Bob showed us around both mountains and made sure we were safe throughout the whole day. To sum it up, if you're coming to visit Whistler for the first time this is definitely the best decision you could make. Whether skiing or snowboarding all of the instructors were awesome and full of knowledge about the mountain. Also nachos and beer at the end of the two days was a great way to finish everything off. It was an amazing experience and I look forward to doing this again in the future!
