Put our group on the wait-list well before wanting dinner. Had group of 8 which we knew would take a while. Was told it would be 2 hours and 10 minutes. After about 1 hour and 50 minutes 2 from the group decided to get take out pizza and go home. I called in to let Sushi village know and change our reservation to 6 people. They let me know it would be an additional 45 minutes. I protested and asked why that would be the case as it was a smaller table and if I didn't call in, we would have a table in 20 minutes regardless. The person on the phone said there was nothing they could do as it was an automated system. They then passed me off to a manager.
The manager was very rude and told me that if I was patient and would wait two minutes instead of calling in to ask, then my table would be ready. This took me aback as the last person said there was an extra 45 minute wait and there was nothing they could do. The manager said I better get there (like a threat) in the next 10 minutes or they'd give my table away. Luckily I was across the street and could get there right away. The food was good but my experience was tainted by the very rude host/ management. I contemplated cancelling but at this point I had waited 2 hours already and was very hungry.
On 2 occasions from the bathroom people from my group heard the manager loudly complaining about guests in the restaurant. We brought it up jokingly to our waiter (who was great) and he said he didn't think it was about us. Even if it wasn't, it's still unsettling to hear and you trust the food safety less. I's not very reassuring and hard to enjoy yourself when you know someone on the staff doesn't want you there. The seafood tasted fresh and I would have had a great experience if not tainted by...

I went here with my family, and we instantly noticed the insane prices. The waitress we had was very energetic, but also gave off a very pretentious vibe. I ordered the teriyaki salmon dinner dish, and I was utterly disappointed. It cost $20, and the portion size was insanely small - especially considering the price. The portion size at an average sushi place is about 3 cups of veggies and beans, and a cup of protein on top. Sushi Village has maybe half a cup of veggies (including the bland steamed brocolli and carrots which were quite out of place) and a decently sized piece of salmon. This however, is not the worst part about the dish. The sauce was lacking in amount and flavour. Basically water. This is still not the worst part. The worst part is that the salmon was bland and unsalted, with nearly no flavor whatsoever. All of the portions were insanely small (Udon Bowl for $17 was the size of maybe an average miso soup bowl). I heard from a member of my party that the assorted poke was delicious, but the spiciness it advertised was virtually non-existent. Again, minuscule portion for the price. ong story short, overpriced by more than 2x your regular prices, insanely small portions that have me leaving pretty much the same as before, and uninspiring flavors. To give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe I ordered...
Read moreOur experience was outstanding. Three couples arrived, sat down in a vibrant but modestly decorated restaurant arranged to maximize casual (but comfortable) seating. Conversation with our server Nicole W. highlighted our uncertainty in what to order. She offered and we agreed for Nicole to take us under her wing.and order for us. After confirming no significant dislikes and no food allergies, we were off on our gastronomical adventure.
The food was overall fantastic and complemented well with the Asahi beer we ordered. We enjoyed spicy and tangy tofu dishes and acted on her suggestion to keep the spicy sauce for later foods; none of us would have ordered tofu but were glad she did. We enjoyed the usual salmon sushi, sockeye sashimi, gyoza and assorted tempura. We also went down the tasty path of a Hot Volcano Roll, Caterpillar Roll, Super Hiro Roll, and a whole squid - I really enjoyed the squid as it was obviously fresh. Nicole also gave us a twist with one of her favourites: a Super Hiro Roll enhanced with a soy sheet, mango and cilantro... Mmm, super good. All was capped off with green tea and mango ice cream.
Not all that we ate is described. We ended up spending more than intended but did so with big smiles on our faces. Nicole certainly looked after us. We continue to look back to that meal fondly and know for sure we...
