I had a disappointing experience at the Sephora Düsseldorf store. I have an Indian skin tone—medium, but not very brown. I visited the store to get help finding a suitable foundation shade.
The beauty consultant brought me around 7 to 8 shades to swatch, but unfortunately, all of them were much darker than my actual skin tone. The shades provided did not match at all and made me look even darker, instead of giving me proper coverage or a natural finish.
When I declined those shades, she suggested testing a HUDA Beauty foundation on me. I politely said no, because it was clear that the consultant did not understand which undertone or color range would suit my complexion.
I then asked for MAC, but the store did not have a good collection available. Instead of finding a close match, she again tried to offer HUDA Beauty and Sephora brand foundations.
At that point, I was quite frustrated and decided to leave the store. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I would not recommend or revisit this...
Read moreI came in maybe two weeks ago around 6pm frantically looking for a new contouring product. I knew what I didn’t like and I had an idea of the make up look in mind, but now I just needed someone with the patience and expertise.
Thank God I met Albina that day and I don’t recall receiving such a great consultation when it comes to makeup.
She asked me the right questions when it comes to budget. She also asked me what else I use overall on my face so we could aim for colours and products that work well with what I already have. She was patient in putting on and removing different contouring products and in different shades.
I walked away with a lovely product from Huda Beauty that I probably wouldn’t have tried out by myself, but now I recommend it to everyone.
