I studied abroad in Italy in college. Back then when I visited Venice, I really wanted a Venetian mask, but could not afford a nice one. I went back December 2024 and my goal was to finally buy a mask. I was disappointed though, because I felt like I was just seeing the same carbon copy mass produced type masks, which is not what I wanted. I wanted something unique.

Enter Leon D’Oro. I was drawn in by the beautiful storefront right away, because of the wide assortment of pieces that looked nothing like the other stores. There were a few that I liked, but they were pricy and I could not make up my mind. I decided to think about it and over the span of the day I was constantly looking at the photos the lady let me take of the masks I liked, wound up going to the store twice.

Ultimately, the shop attendant patiently waited while I narrowed my choices to three masks. She was so kind and offered to lay them out on white paper so I could see what they’d look like on white walls. I further narrowed it down to two before finally picking one. They shipped it out to me in California, which I appreciated.

Once home, I kept thinking about the other mask. I had wanted to do a sort of sun and moon motif since they complement each other so well (the lighter one has rays like the sun and the darker one has crescents reminiscent of the moon). I called Leon and spoke with him. He gave me his number and texted him a photo of the mask I liked. They still had it and shipped it out — I received it literally the Wednesday after messaging him Friday. Got them hung up, and it’s been a real joy to be able to look at them. I honestly love them so, so much. A few friends came over and exclaimed over how beautiful they are. They’re really unique works of art and Leon is super accommodating and helpful. I cannot recommend this store highly enough. Definitely worth the price to have something so special to remember Italy by. This is an absolute must stop when in Venice. My wife and I visited the shop on our first time ever in Venice and purchased a large Bull Mask that was incredibly designed and constructed, we fell in love with it the first time we laid eyes on it. Leon was so friendly and polite and talked to us about the construction of the mask and the artist that designed it. He arranged shipping of the mask to our house here in Germany. Everything went flawlessly. A few months later I asked Leon to design another Bull Mask with the theme of Frida Kharlo, with no hesitation he took care of this and sent me pictures during the design and construction, arranged for shipping and followed up upon its delivery. Venice Art Mask ist der beste Maskenladen in ganz Venedig 🎭🎨 🎉🥰

Was dabei besonders heraussticht ist die Kunstfertigkeit und die handwerkliche Perfektion, mit der die im Detail und Farbe phantastischen Masken gefertigt wurden.

Wir hatten eine besonders schöne Maske in diesem Laden gesehen und Leon hat uns sehr gut beraten und war sehr charmant und freundlich dabei, besonders gut wusste er zu erklären in welch aufwendigem Verfahren die Masken jeweils einzeln hergestellt werden und das jede einzelne ein Unikat ist, welches es kein zweites Mal auf der Welt geben wird.

Vielleicht merkt man es mir an, jedoch haben wir in diesem wunderschönen Laden das Masterpiece für unser petrolfarben gestrichenes Schlafzimmer entdeckt und es wird das einzige Stück sein, was in der Mitte der Wand hängen wird und ich bin sehr verliebt und freue mich sehr, es in Leon's Laden entdeckt zu haben.

Jede einzelne Maske ist ein echtes venezianisches Kunstwerk und jede einzelne ist ihren Preis absolut mehr als wert: es sind "Onece-in-a-liftime"-Kunstwerke und ich werde mich mein Leben lang daran erfreuen und immer wieder gerne an diesen Besuch in Venedig zurück denken, wenn ich diese Maske anschauen werde.

Venice Art Mask is the best mask shop in all of Venice 🎭🎨 🎉🥰

What particularly stands out is the artistry and perfection of the craftsmanship that went into making the masks, which are fantastic in detail and colour.

We saw a particularly beautiful mask in this shop and Leon gave us very good advice and was very charming and friendly. He was particularly good at explaining the elaborate process in which the masks are made individually and that each one is unique and will never be seen again in the world.

Maybe it shows on my face, but in this beautiful shop we discovered the masterpiece for our petrol-painted bedroom and it will be the only piece that will hang in the middle of the wall and I am very much in love and happy to have discovered it in Leon's shop.

Each and every mask is a true Venetian work of art and each one is absolutely more than worth its price: they are "onece-in-a-lifetime" works of art and I will enjoy them for the rest of my life and always think back fondly to that visit to Venice when I look at this mask.
