Do not rent with this company if you are a foreigner. The service is really slow and very inefficient.
I picked up the car having done the check in online saying I could save about 30 mins of my waiting time. I went in on a Thursday morning having an older gentlemen with glasses check me in. It was the slowest check in ever in any car rental history. He had so many forms to fill and so many rules to explain even though they were already explain on the online check in. He didn't even speak English so he was just pointing at the pictures. 2 local japanese men already picked up their cars and left while I was just standing there waiting for his in inefficient service.
During the return you have to pump at the designated fuel stations and show the receipt. I was not made aware of this during my very elaborate check in proccess despite pointing 100 rules. He cause trouble upon my return and did not allow the return until we produced the receipt we we managed to dig. What kind of distrust do you have for your customers? I rent so many cars a year and this is the first time I had to pump at a station near Kyoto and I have been forced to produce a receipt

Read moreThe representative that we encountered was young and rude. This was the first time in three years living in Japan I was treated with blatant disrespect. I thought for a minute she was American with her disgusting behavior. I got her when I picked up the car and when I dropped off the car. I was given a car with basic options, no charging ports and a less than functional Nav system, that I paid extra for. I was not given an ETC card, that I specified I wanted. I ended up spending much of my discretionary cash on tolls and and found it complicated to operate the coin op system. Upon arrival she was as rude as expected, and was busy laughing and joking around with a male member of the staff while I sat waiting for my receipt. I finally had to walk up and interrupt their conversation only to find out I had waiting about 10 minutes for nothing. I don't speak Japanese well enough, and I was impressed that she took advantage of it. I did catch a few comments about how she didn't like foreigners to her friend, as well as a few other snarky comments. Is this how Nissan Rental Car allows their employees to behave? The staff is rude, said “No ENGLISH” to customers, use the pen highlighted some sentences and points for you to read in a really rude way. Nowadays, using translator isn't that difficult right? A couple days ago, I went for Toyota Rent a car and had a much different and better experience.
For the car itself, I got the ePower Note, which is silent and accelerate well. However, the car just keeps beeping every few minutes for absolutely no reasons, which was very annoying.
For the navigation system, it is completely trash. It states it was built with Google but keep recommending some routes that are not reaching the proper entrance/ parking, and even some routes that are so narrow and hard to drive. The illustration style of the navigation is too complex and hard to understand. The system often told you to turn earlier than when actually should be.
