I have good and bad things to say about our stay. We booked this for our stay as we were prioritising spacious accommodation, a lot of the hotels in (and above) our price range were exceedingly compact and so we opted for this for space. It was definitely comfortable having a large self contained apartment as a couple and would possibly suit a family as well. There was a balcony, a small clothesline, a large living area with a tatami mat which could be separated by the traditional sliding door. This door was also good for filtering sunlight and heat. The bedroom was large, had good lighting/lamps, the bed was low set and very soft. The aircon worked well. There was a fridge, a washing machine, kettle and microwave which were handy. The japanese style toilet is in a separate room to the bathroom. The building is actually called "Chuan house" if you are looking for it on the street. If you type in the name provided when booking into google maps it is easy to locate. It is unstaffed. When you arrive you must open the locker with the pin provided to you by your host. This will provide a key which you insert into the box at the entrance to open the sliding doors. All instructions are provided in English. Once inside, the lift is very modern and fast however you do not need to swipe anything to enter the lift or access floors. You are given 1 x old school key. The apartment door has many locks which I found confusing and hard to use. You are provided with slippers and towels however if staying more than one night I think there should have been more towels provided. There is a sensor light in the corridor which constantly turns on (so if anyone gets up to use the bathroom at night it will turn the light on waking others up). However it constantly turns off as well so you cannot rely on it to stay on while using the mirror located at the entrance. One big source of frustration for me was that there is no space to get ready - I simply needed a place with a mirror and light where I could set down my make up or hair tools. There is nowhere. There is a mirror in the bathroom however the sink area directly beneath it has no space at all to place any items. I had to place my make up and hair products an arms length away on the washing machine. There is nowhere to safely plug in hairdyer/straightener etc without the cord hanging in the sink or running across a doorway (trip hazard). There is simply nowhere to get ready which made this part of my day a very frustrating element and a deal breaker for why I would not stay here again. There is also nowhere to hang your wet towels after showering except perhaps outside on the balcony or in your wardrobe. There are 2 mugs provided which were great for coffee/tea in room however there were no glasses so we drank champagne out of mugs. Lastly, the shower temperature has to be set each time at control panel in the hallway area before having a shower, and then it is set at that temperature for the duration of the shower. If you want it slightly cooler or hotter you have to stop the shower, go out into the hallway and change the temperature then go back to the shower again. It is unbelievable I've never seen such a bizarre set up. The location is also in Dotonbori which is a central but "gritty" area, not very pleasant and still a decent 15 min walk to the busy entertainment area and subway. Overall, the spaciousness was fantastic, and it was easy to check in/out and easy to find. However the negatives outweigh the positives for me unfortunately, so next time I would prefer to stay away from Dotonbori area and instead used the subway to come into the...
