If you are looking for a knife and have questions, or are coming from overseas, I HIGHLY recommend MEISYOU Knives. I'd previously purchased knives in the area, shopping at different stores, and I am so happy that I stumbled upon Meisyou.

As other reviews mention, the staff was able to educate me on their selection, craftsman and any other questions that I had between their products and competitors. This was also a no-pressure selling establishment. They were more than happy to let me sample(cut) with a variety of knives and walk out the door freely, wishing me well on the way out.

After visiting a few more stores, I felt the this shops knives were higher quality, with similar pricing. Although this is a NON-TAX EXEMPT store, it was worth the service and quality. Next time I am in Tokyo, I will be making...

Great shop for knives across lower to mid upper price range. Everything here is made to actually be used. They have a cutting station for you to test out your knives too. Staff are easily some of the friendliest most helpful people you'll ever meet to. Very patiently put up with everybody's questions and even if 1 person doesn't necessarily know the answer another staff is usually on hand and able to fill in the gaps. Be sure to test out every knife you purchase to check for details and you can find Incredible gems. I did see a defect on 1 knife while I was there but it's not their fault and probably an oversight from the maker. If you want to get a Japanese knife and don't know what you're looking for. They have an excellent selection of knifes at a very reasonable price that are all hand made. The staff was extremely polite and very patiently explained everything that I needed to know about the different types of knives like the differences in materials, size, shape and what they are used for even though they struggled to communicate some finer details in English which I really appreciated thier efforts. I learned a lot and finally made my purchase which I was totally satisfied with as I knew exactly what I was getting. They let you try out the knifes to get a feel for it which is very useful that a lot of the other shops in the ares don't offer.
