Monja Shichigosan — Restaurant in Tokyo

I made a reservation by phone and on the day they told us to go to the building next door which seemed to have opened recently. The interior is very new and doesn’t have the same authentic/traditional feeling than the original building so I was already a bit disappointed. The staff‘s attitude is the worst though. Most of them are foreigners and don’t speak Japanese, when asked about some items what they were (in Japanese), they wouldn’t understand us and not answer. In particular, there is a Chinese girl working there whose attitude is the worst. It may be common in China to be rude to customers but please don’t bring that kind of behavior here. She would be rude in her responses and ignore us. The food itself was good but just the whole attitude and atmosphere ruined it so we left after ordering one item. I don’t think I would go again, there are so many better restaurants in Asakusa and the staff doesn’t treat...

Kinda funny experience, I didn't have a booking so I walked in with 6 pax, I was denied a table saying they were full. So I went next door which apparently was their second store, the staff there told me there was a table available in the previous store and the staff there was lying. She took me back there and we got a table. Not sure it's because they thought we were from China or tourists. Other than that the food experience was great! Ordered 1 monjayaki and 2 okonomiyaki. Everything is cooked on the table itself like all okonomiyaki restaurants. The okonomiyaki was delicious, soft and fluffy and the ingredients are fresh. I have no idea how this restaurant got such good ratings. 4 weeks traveling through Japan and clearly the worst restaurant I have been to. We had to wait extremely long until we got served and since the Okonimiyaki was extremely thick, it took ages until we could eat. Thought the staff forgot about us, but they did not. They were not unfriendly but they were simply extremely unmotivated. So if you have a lot of time and you would like to stare at your unfinished food, it is a perfect place for you.
